I love the guy, but "The German Gretzky" is a stretch. He's the second best guy on his TEAM, although to be fair, I'd say he may be the second best guy in the league behind McDavid. Gretzky was simply the best player in the history of team sports.

I had a season ticket during the Oilers Dynasty, but Bobby Orr dominated like no other and from the blueline...winning the scoring title as a d-man! Not only did he revolutionize his position, he was a far more complete player than Wayne...phenomenal skater, otherworldly playmaking instincts, very tough, better defensively, overall, incredible leader, great shot, saw the ice like nobody before himself. If you go back and watch recordings, it's like he came from another planet, especially considering how much more dominant he was than the other superstars of his era. Super Mario may have surpassed Gretzky had it not been for his chronic back issues & Hodgkins disease. Imagine if the two switched teams, (Oilers Penguins), what kind of numbers Lemieux could've amassed? I've never seen a big man dominate like he did, it was like watching a man play street hockey against children.

first off. nobody is gretzky. your comment leads to the idea that every country could have this level of player. there is only one Jesus, and the same applies to the great one. if you want, say that hes the German Lemieux, then sure. their game styles are similar also. when Dr. Drai learns how to stop time and see the future, then maybe he can be comparable to the Great One.
