Colby really let himself down with that performance, he literally would rather cope and pray for a robbery than actually hustle when he needs to for certain rounds or even for a finish. It seems like Leon shut him down. If Colby had any chance, It would have been to fight like Merab did against Yan. Just spamming takedown, punches, anything and everything. He seemed to be planning to do that, but the pressure and intensity never came. Disappointing as a Colby fan.

I know mma math doesn’t work, but I don’t see how anyone thought Colby would beat Leon after seeing how Leon beat Usman in their 3rd fight. Colby is still worse than Usman as we saw in this fight. Usman coming off a KO loss did better than Colby who hasn’t takin damage for over a year and a half. As for Leon, dominant win but he should be getting the same criticism Adesanya gets for coasting in fights instead of going for finishes. Leon is a counter striker first and foremost. I guarantee that if Colby actually gave an effort this would have been a way more entertaining fight. He was also clearly dominating so there was no reason to put himself at risk of a lucky KO opportunity. And despite all of that, Leon still went for takedowns, and submission attempts, in the last 2 rounds when Colby clearly has a better wrestling game. He kept his composure and played the cards Colby dealt him while still winning every single hand. Can’t knock him for that. If anything, I came away more impressed with his mental strength

Personally feel Edwards is over-hated at this point. Everyone got on him for not being an active champion yet he fought twice this year, the same amount of times as Islam, Aljo, O’Malley, and we can even throw in Izzy. Everyone is running with this narrative that Edwards wasn’t impressive in that fight but he did everything he was supposed to and more. Nobody expected Leon to out grapple Colby and most of the moments Colby ended up in Dominate position was from Leon showing off. It’s hard to get a finish on a guy who is literally trying everything in his power to not get finished, not to mention Leon has the Nate Diaz fight under his belt where he was winning the whole fight and got caught and almost lost at the end. The commentary glazed tf outta Colby all night and especially in that 5th round when they were making fun of Leon for losing 1 round due to his own choices.
