Leon F. Sylver III's bassline from 'And the Beat Goes On' by The Whispers

This video is a demonstration of Leon F. Sylver's bassline from 'And the Beat Goes On', the 1979 hit for The Whispers. This song has an instantly recognisable bassline and is required study for any funk/disco bassist.
I recorded this line using a Fender Custom Shop '67 Precision bass strung with Rotosound strings. The tone control was rolled back about half-way. The bass was recorded via a SansAmp Bass Driver DI, all controls set flat. A small amount of compression was added digitally.

These are my favorite types of songs to play...funk / soul / r&b / disco of the 70s and 80s was a glorious time for bass. You make this look so much easier than when I play it haha, practice makes perfect!
