Leon "Timbo" Seymore's | Biography
Many find it easier to mirror greatness rather than creating it themselves because creating it requires time passion and the ability to be misunderstood. But every once in awhile, we stumble across an artist who's not only gifted with wonderful vocal presence, exceptional songwriting skills and undeniable charisma, but who also possesses the kind of originality and vision to back it all up.
In Leon Timbo's new album set to release this May, "Soul Sessions," a sonic diversity of tunes dealing with issues ranging from love, emotions, and friendship, which is a journey that leads the listener to the creator. It is a piece of his soul to anyone who dares to listen.
"My songs are birthed in secret places on a stage of transparent prayers so they require the listener to be ready to be transparent in their listening," explains Timbo, who performed a concert during the Super Bowl for the release of the Soul Sessions Album. It's time and people want reality and a relationship with the Heavenly Father.
Leon Timbo began singing at the age of 16 after praying and desiring this gift from the Lord. In his early 20's, he picked up piano and acoustic guitar to further his expression of worship through music. Traveling to and performing at conferences and concerts allowed alone time to birth this transparent sound. In 2003, "The Secret songs of Boomtown" was birthed and recorded live at the Boomtown Theatre and Café in Jacksonville, FL. He simply explained the most under discussed and simply misunderstood parts of life, love, and worship in a very non religious approach.
Now at 27, Timbo has a heart to speak truth acoustically and build upon an already inspiring tradition of music set before him. Some of his up to date work includes the challenging song "Truth Is" on the album "Soul Music" by artist Lisa McClendon.
In the fall of 2004, Leon Timbo signed with Shabach Entertainment to venture a solo career. Shabach Entertainment known for their soul and hip-hop contribution to the Gospel industry in the form of Lisa McClendon, Pettidee, and various others. The President and Producer of Shabach, Mo Henderson has also worked with Alan & Alan, Grits, Out of Eden, Troy Snead. Shabach Entertainment feels its time to tirelessly labor to house Leon Timbo's authentic sound to present Him to the world. "Leon Timbo is going to take this industry by storm. He's diverse and he has the natural charisma it takes to stand out in a sea of artist", Says Mo Henderson. "After seeing Timbo perform in Atlanta at the National Black Arts Festival and Atlanta's hot spot the Apache. Seeing his humility along with the presence of God as he performed made me think to my self he is a gift in which the rest of the world must experience", Says Vice President Todd Henderson of Shabach Entertainment.
Leon Timbo combines Soul Music, folk expressions, and R&B dynamics in an Acoustic casing that's surgical. He begins his Session with his first single, the percussive "Gotta Dance," an up-tempo, club-friendly tune that expresses the common idea that everyone must experience more than what they see with their eyes. Love, hate, peace, and ultimately God, We are a spiritual people and what is spiritual with require a response. Continuing the need for God, "I Cant(If u don't come)," a jazzy, hi-hat-driven groove fuses hip-hop rhythms on guitar riffs. It sets the mood showcasing Leon Timbo's love for the guitar. Slated the Brothers Anthem, "Love is More," Leon Timbo expresses what every man wants to say at least once in a relationship where he feels he's failing. He adds a folkish twist to the euphorically soothing "Don't call," a song on true friendship. He then sets his passions on the Creator exclusively with the reminiscent seventies gospel song "All of U". "Where U Are" opens the register of styles up a bit with a Seal like quality. "I Need U Again" closes the session transparently stating the issues that keep us from God.
