Beyonce also exhibits better control because she shows the ability to manipulate the speed and character of the vibrato for different vocal expressions depending on the musical setting of the song.

@@BMEZY EXACTLY! I didn’t want to be too technical but yes her passation point shows that she’s clearly a mezzo . There is a little shift in her placement in the E5/F5 are ( it’s very subtle because you can hear that she worked this passagio) . And yes , the ease in the upper register can make her pass for a soprano especially with age and as her voice matured. In the classical world she could EASILY sing a soprano area ( most of them goes up to a B5 and she sustained them with no effort now )

It's also worth noting that Beyonce is a Mezzo-Soprano, while Leona is a Soprano. So, it makes sense that Beyonce would take the lower notes and that Leona would take a lot of the higher ones. When it comes to their vocal tones, it's interesting. Beyonce's voice is more distinctive and sounds good on certain kinds of songs -- but it makes her who she is. Leona's voice is generally more pleasant to listen to but also more basic -- not really unique.

In my humble opinion. Low Notes- Bey sweeps Chest/Mixed- Leona really surprised me in the lower notes in this range being a soprano, and Beyoncé surprised me with her upper belting range. I would’ve expected the opposite to be true. Overall I prefer Bey but it’s closer than I expected. Bb4: Leona (omg the resonance!) B4: Tie C5: Beyoncé C#5: Beyoncé D5: Beyoncé Eb5: Beyoncé E5: Beyoncé (I didn’t like Leona’s E5 here, I actually thought Beyoncé’s was more effortless) F5: Beyoncé F#5: Tie G5: Tie G#5: Leona Head Voice- I actually prefer Beyoncé’s tone in her head voice. Much more power/ more operatic and consistent across all of the notes. Leona has a very pretty falsetto-like head voice especially at the top of her range. IMO probably both of these singers’ strongest registers. Beyoncé does very little to me, it's too controlled and her tone is a bit ungraceful to me. Leona's tone is somewhat of an acquired taste but it has such an identity to it.. and that sweetness...my god

@@stanjacksonwang7190 it's just the constant use of growls and thickish tone, I can listen to it but I don't feel like it's particularly unique nor pleasant to the ear. I do like her runs though. Me being white (I'm not British nor American) have nothing to do with that lol. I love soulful singing but I like nuance and subtlety.

The Beyhive is in full effect in these comments. Leona is less popular but she get my vote. She handles ballads in the same manner as Mariah, Celine and Whitney with chilling emotion and superb delivery. Someone here said Leona's voice is nice but basic - funny how that perfectly describes...
