Yes, my wife and I walked up the steps to his house in Hydra, Greece. When we opened the door, there was Marien, just sitting there at her desk typing his lyrics, and musical notes on sheets of paper. Then we walked to the window and opened the blinds. OMG what a perfect view of the Mediterranean sea. Here he wrote his best music. Thank you, Leonard Cohen

@@Eternity47890 It was September 2019, our tour guide had the key to the door for Marien and Leonard's apartment. So, my Greek wife and I just stood at window, holding hands, and observed the Mediterranean Sea.

Lyrics: Come over to the window, my little darling1 I'd like to try to read your palm I used to think I was some kind of gypsy boy Before I let you take me home Now so long, Marianne It's time that we began To laugh, and cry, and cry And laugh about it all again Well, you know that I love to live with you But you make me forget so very much I forget to pray for the angels And then the angels forget to pray for us Now so long, Marianne It's time that we began To laugh, and cry, and cry And laugh about it all again Now so long, Marianne It's time that we began To laugh, and cry, and cry And laugh about it all again For now I need your hidden love I'm cold as a new razor blade You left when I told you I was curious I never said that I was brave Oh, so long, Marianne It's time that we began To laugh, and cry, and cry And laugh about it all again Oh, you are really such a pretty one I see you've gone and changed your name again And just when I climbed this whole mountainside To wash my eyelids in the rain Oh, so long, Marianne It's time that we began To laugh, and cry, and cry And laugh about it all again

@bb11111163 жыл бұрын
Sad? Maybe. For some poet/artists a long term commitment can negatively affect their art. I think of Joni Mitchell. Once she got married around 1980 (for 11 years), the number of her new great songs dropped off quite a bit. The exploration of a new love can be the spark which gets the creative mind to come alive.
