I am 70 years old, a "fan" of Leonard Cohen for fifty years. I still visit him in the evenings, I still visit him in dreams. He plays for me. He helps me write my song. He prods me to write upon "too white paper with thin ink" and his genius lives forever.

Yes it was...may you do your best to show today's generation that artists like Leonard Cohen are way better than the average ones on the radio. Lyrics that swear constantly, promote drug use, reckless behaviour, violence and degrade women to be smutty and strippers needs to be outlawed. Go play that in a private club not in mainstream culture. We need to hear pure artistry like this.

👏 THIS is so beautiful to me on many different levels! It’s the soft, soothing, smooth voice of Cohen who doesn’t really ‘sing’ but seems to ‘speak’ the words, along with the instrumental solos, background female vocalists/choir, and the lyrics themselves. I’m 70ish but only recently began to listen and appreciate the music of Leonard Cohen, incl. Hallelujah, Boogie Street, and many others, esp from this 👍 London concert!

There are emotions like tatoos that are forever some people we fall in love with will forever leave a haunting memorry behind . I was touched by a womans love in 1965 at age 17 it was a short time then she went her way for many years I tried to be with her if for only a moment but it was futile, no one understood the way it stayed without any weakening And as the years passed by I couldnt help but count them 10,15,20,30,40 years its now been 55 years and nothing has faded about her my life has moved on married twice but her memorry her smell the long kisses her arms they are as clear today as then. Some dismiss love when your young but its not any foolish shallow thing. And some may have forgotten the power of love in the bloom of life. Unrealistic and a waste of time too young to really know what love is they will say. And I agree at that age there was much yet to learn But now at age 73 all I have is my memorries and those still bring me heart rending pleasure and of wonderous sensations. So James you can expect her to remain another 30 years in you deepest thoughts . Perhsps had it worked out with her in my case maybe her magic would have worn thin of worse I woyld have taken my life over her. Any way your coment just triggered my responce.

Amen 🙏🏻Cleve ..I was married twice to the same wrong man.. I still have him in my heart down deep in that warm cozy spot we all share.. I’m not sad that it never worked out.. I’m sad that the man I’ve discovered now might just be a tad bit late to the table for dinner .. we click on so many levels it’s as if we can read each other’s minds ..hearts so many miles away from each other...I found Mr. Cohen on unplugged an have been chained to his melodious voice..powerful poetry set to the best songs on this planet...I’m / we are the luckiest humans in the entire universe to have had him touch our hearts and souls with his artistic flare as a painting by Monet , Raphael, Salvador Dali (so) , Rembrandt..stuff like this only comes once in a lifetime...I’m in awe.

His music, poetry and presence can never be forgotten. We all must make sure his legacy is remembered and respected by every generation after ours. Every young person should be strapped to a chair and made to listen and may be they find a life that has more meaning than useless materialism and awful music that is nothing but swearing, promoting vices and noise. Leonard's music is from heaven itself and you explore your feelings as a human being be it in love, longing, experience, the world is a cruel place often. The music comforts us no matter how dark things may become for our souls. We are wanderers in a world of darkness that we must make a light for ourselves in our journey our own way and this is what Leonard gives us in his artistry. He was an explorer of the soul and mind and it gives hope to us all we are not alone. Thank you dear Leonard you are greatly missed by all who were touched by you and will continue to be.

And where, where, where is my Gypsy wife tonight I've heard all the wild reports, they can't be right But whose head is this she's dancing with on the threshing floor whose darkness deepens in her arms a little more And where, where is my Gypsy wife tonight? Where, where is my Gypsy wife tonight? Ah the silver knives are flashing in the tired old cafe A ghost climbs on the table in a bridal negligee She says, "My body is the light, my body is the way" I raise my arm against it all and I catch the bride's bouquet And where, where is my Gypsy wife tonight? Too early for the rainbow, too early for the dove These are the final days, this is the darkness, this is the flood And there is no man or woman who can't be touched But you who come between them will be judged And where, where is my Gypsy wife tonight?

Leonard sets the scene like a Hammer Horror Movie, his songs have those kind of characters in them, then he takes you on a journey, and the musicians, are so subtle, that its an interesting trip, his voice is not the greatest, but when he interprets it to you, his message to you, is better than any fantastic singer you may have heard.
