I always wished they'd collaborated on a whole album together. Their musical styles are very complementary, particularly with their respective mid-to-late-90s material, eg "Murder Ballads" where this song is from, "Let Love In" and "The Boatsman's Call" in Nick's case; "Is this Desire?", "To Bring You My Love" and "Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea" in Polly Jean's case. Together they would've created something truly special. I'm guessing their tumultuous relationship issues might have been a hindrance to such a project. I believe Nick was still using heroin and alcohol frequently at that point, and IIRC PJ had severely curtailed her drug use around the release of her third album "To Bring You My Love" in 1993 (which was dramatically different from her first two albums which were pure grunge, and reflected a permanent change in her sound).

@@zonesquestiloveunderworld Harvey was never a serious drug user, certainly not out of control and strung out on the needle like Nick was around this time.

Everyone's talking about how well they go together, how beautiful their children would have been, etc. But his marriage to Susie is epic, obviously soul mates, they had 2 gorgeous boys, and Susie is a breath taking beauty. This was just a short lived affair, he found his true love with Susie, I believe

Murder ballads is such an iconic album.. I was 20 when it came out, and still love it very much. Two great musicians and performers. A new collaboration would be really a big thing❤️

I bought Murder Ballads for my nephew, knowing he would appreciate and love it! My sister heard it playing one day and threw it away, in the recycling bin of course, and chewed my ass OUT, thinking "murder" would turn him into a serial killer or something. Maybe should have waited until he was 12! We still listen to it!! LOVE Nick Cave. LOVE.

One of the absolute peaks of a music video. One single continuous shot and a powerful chemistry between Nick and PJ. Three years ago, when i was 20, i heard this and Murder Ballads songs. "Henry Lee" turned to be my favorite of the album, and maybe the best song of Nick Cave. I purchased the CD almost a year ago, and it literally blew my mind. It became one of my favorite records of all time. From Argentina, i love Nick Cave.
