Solomun is a great producer, some of you may not like this remix (or this genre) but I'm pretty sure that Solomun appreciates (and respects) Cohen's works and did this remix hoping that he could bring a Leonard Cohen song that he loves to the club culture that he loves too. I'm pretty sure that the idea behind this song is bringing together people and musical styles, not making them criticize each other...
@Klapim6 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you. I don't like seeing people hating on a remix just because they don't like it. The original is still there ... i just don't get these people. More people should see your comment and your open opinion.

Agreed. An artist such as Cohen, who would experiment to create, in turn would not object to such an experiment. It is respectful in it's construction and fits in with the ethos of aproach the likes of Bowie, Cohen et al would be willing to try new styles in the face of comercial demands.

Leonard Cohen's went to some lengths to protect his work. You can hear why in this 'production' Solomun has created nothing original. He has basically stolen another man's creativity and tried to 'cash' in. It's ok, but a debasement of a great Poem. If you want to be original at 'Art/Music', Solomun, make up your own words and chords, rather than 'lig' of Leonard!

This song is a masterpiece and Solomun is one of a kind. If you're underground and you listen to this song, you will understand what I am trying to say. It's been over 20 years when I started to listen to dance music. And no one ever in that time did what Solomun did. Hope that one day I will get to meet you friend. Keep doing what your doing, keep doing what makes you happy.

The distorted notes in this are more beautiful than any notes I've heard on key... I imagine several people who love the originals do not really appreciate this type of music, but I think we can all agree that his music and his mind were a special kind of beauty, and worth being remembered. To LC I wish I could have met you RIP

This biggest compliment an artist could ever see would be to have other artists in whatever genre adapt to the original. It’s EVERYTHING that Mr Cohen would want. Like it or not, it would always be appreciated by a true artist which he was.

Since when make a remix track is killing a song?. The original is still there guys, this is a dance music tribute to the that song. A very good new dance track full of respect. jesus... people hating full of ignorance.

I've found myself telling friends simular things when they say something like "argh man have you heard what they've done to that tune, they've ruined it" I say no they haven't the original track still exists ! The reason they made a dance remix version is because of the love for it and would appreciate to hear it in the club's ect.

Leonard Cohen . The first time I watched his show I was a bit put off by his heavy deep voice, then I listened to his songs which I liked very much. Then, I started to listen to his history, full of poetry then it became full of the love of God . I t is like the blues as you say.

IM SORRY TO THOSE WHO MAY DISAGREE, we are all entitled to our opinions, otherwise what good what we be without free will, right? im of the school that you shouldn't hate on a remix....this is a well respected producer/ dj trying to bring beautiful work of another very well respected and talented artist from a completely different generation who would otherwise never hear this song because they wouldnt be explosed to it. i cannot tell you how many absolute jems and classics i was exposed to when i was younger becuase i heard the club remix first, loved it, then delved into listening to the original artists and then became a huge fan. noones taking the original artist away. they are exposing a different audience, and transcending the boundries of genre by making remixes. and again, ill say it to the haters, YOU TRY TO MAKE A MIX LIKE THIS. pretty sure the people hating arent talented enough to interpret his art in more than one dimension. Cohen would appreciate this, im sure of it for who HE WAS, IS AND WILL FOREVER BE TO US TRUE FANS and to those saying he is trying to "cash in" on his original work, i beg to differ, especially with all the tracks coming out recently shamelessly plucking the chords and slicing the vocals of some classic house tracks, sampling them, and not even noting at all any of the original artists, or vocalists from the tracks theyt are basically "remixing" but renaming the song and taking 100% rcredit for someone elses original works. that WASNT done here. he kept the original artist name and track name and just remixed it, giving cohen credit and plentyyyyy of $$$$ to his estate

Guys, R* put this version to their nightclub nightlife update which made me intrigued about Cohen himself... good comment.....detraction gets my vote as the poem/music was not meant as a dance tune or exercise in physicality , it is a prayer, an ironic, questioning yet reverent prayer/communication with Elohim.
