The first series of The Chosen made me realise Jesus was more than a collection of some nice stories. It openend my heart from episode 1 with Mary Magdalene. It floored me, I too was her. It showed Jesus was fully human. This was a man I could believe in as the son of God, not just a prophet. I said my “yes” in February 21. Series 2 has taught me such a lot (with your help). Didn’t “hear” the map before or what “be attitudes” meant. The map to find Jesus blew my mind. To see the apostles as real people. I hear their voices now when I hear the gospels. When Simon asks to be washed all over not just his feet, I commented…yep that’s Peter… I still have my questions and difficulties, but I love Christ. I am His. I am loved.

The Greek word for Meek is actually PROAS, a term used to describe a military/war horse that has "strength under control." It's not passive or weakness. It's strength under the control of Holy Spirit, just like Jesus.

πράος or práos translation and wisdom are all good, just that when people look up what you spelled they're gonna find a boat lol. But yes, Jesus was meek. He was strong and he controlled his strength.

Im honestly not sure theres ANY scene with Jesus that doesnt wet my eyes at least a bit. Even him laughing at jokes brings tears to my eyes because it's so human. I remember back in an early episode of season one. Simon makes a very brief joke about Andrew not having friends as a kid. And Jesus does a typical belly laugh and a little clap at the joke. He was laughing at a joke at somebody else's expense Which doesn't seem godly but it's in a playful way And harms nobody And it really shows his humanity. The moment I think about that a tear comes to my eye. Later on they joke about how bad of a dancer Andrew is and it does the same thing. But nothing......absolutely nothing I have ever watched. Makes me cry the way scenes with Jesus and his mother do in the show. I was a mess after I watched the scene where he walks back to his tent at the end of that long hard day, and he is so tired he can barely stand. When Mary runs to him and takes care of him after they were just in the middle of an argument. And he's joking with her a bit and saying that he's a mess and then hugs her and asks what he would do without her ...... and the way he says "yes I'm so tired" when she tells him to rest, and they end on his prayer of sleep.....seriously😭😭😭

IMO it's pretty incredible symbolically that Peter is the one to properly be introduced to Judas and welcome him. Two sides of a coin in a way. Both Peter and Judas betrayed Jesus, but Peter was the only one that was repentant.
@handover6109 Жыл бұрын
I don't know if we can even judge that. Judas felt so much guilt and shame for what he had done that he gave the money back and hung himself. I think that indicates that he was repentant in his heart. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said that all sin was equal in the eyes of God. Sin is separation from God. Jesus said God forgives all sin if we repent and ask for forgiveness. We have no way of knowing if Judas repented. Jesus asked God to forgive the people who crucified Him, because they did not realize what they were doing.

You are the salt of the earth... You are the light of the world... We are the aroma of Christ to God. These are from scripture (Matt. 5 and 2 Cor. 3) and are metaphors for what we are to be as followers of Jesus while we're on this earth. Salty, bright, and smelly, haha. But this show explains the salt metaphor beautifully and I've learned to really appreciate the simplicity of these things. Your reaction to his explanation of salt made me grin. Wow wow wow. I watched all the episodes in season two with you as the commentor..I appreciated you sharing the pauses n observations on the scenes that spoke to you, also your explanations on the purpose of them. Many of them were similar to the ones I noted as well. Episode 8 really helped me see how Jesus knew the whole picture of Gods plan for his disciples. But He was mindful to gently engraft each one individually into that plan. This episode really spoke to me of the strong connection Jesus had with both the natural world n the spiritual realm at the same time. I senced He was able to do that because of His( divine) relationship with His Father God n then able to inputted into His students in the manner that He did. This is the Jesus I can relate with when I think of Him now. The episode helped me put skin, meat n bones to the one who at times seemed abstract , unapproachable ... This Jesus is believable..pleasant with a sense of humor:)..n still encapsulates His divine wisdom/ nature ..and His chosen ones are beginning to mirror this as well. Beautifully captured on screen and in dialogue 💜🙋♀️

@@LeonardoTorresMusic More than 'enjoyed'...it was food for the soul. You are doing this world much good by shining your light upon it. You asked what is Christianity...it's simple, it's twofold. (1.) The most beautiful expression of who Jesus is is found is John 1: 1-5. ( 2.) Jesus As "Salvation". This is where peeps be trippin. Did He really step in for us as a Savior? Does His 'Taking upon Himself the sins of the world' really have meaning? Did He actually feel and embody every hurt, heartache, and evil for all of mankind, from beginning to end? Did His 'flesh' and blood, given freely, make a difference...and how? You can only Know when you Know via the Spirit of God, which is Truth. No building labeled "Church" has all of the answers. And that is well and good. Who can say where God begins and ends? He lives In us, we Are the Church, which is the Body of Christ. We are to embody His love by representing Him to those within our responsibility. Every man and woman that enters our 'homes', every eye that looks back into ours. Light is the visual of Love. The Word is the sound of Love. Love is alive in truth/word and in light/love...where one begins and ends is impossible to divide into parts as it is whole and Holy. Everything is as a circle, no beginning and no end. Consider Genesis 1. In the beginning God spoke into the deep, the Possibility, and said "Let there be Light". This was the Word before the sun and moon were spoken into being. You could say God spoke into the vastness of all possibility; "Let there Be LOVE". This is the whole of the 'Gospel'. The gospel of Jesus the Christ is written within the Four Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Ta Da! You're already there Leo. You embody the heart of Christ. That's the full sum of it's parts. Love and then More Love...etc, infinitum.

From ep6 Mary running to the beatitudes here... really brought to light my walk, and my step back from faith and that is (from adult age, because my testimony goes further back) but I accepted Jesus, at home, in my loungeroom. I know he sat beside me, I felt Him, I could see Him in my minds eye. All my convictions poured out and in that moment I was forgiven of my past. I then joined a church. I was badly mistreated and I tried to stay and work through it but left. 3 churches later and the same treatment. I walked away from church. Slowly I walked backwards from God. But tonight, even though I've watched these episodes several times, I was finally given the words I needed. Jesus forgave me of my past, but the people around me kept throwing me back to it by their treatment toward me. Pastors, their wives, their inner circle. Months before I found this series, I started my faith climb back with clearer focus. More calm. I get so so much from The Chosen. It was what I needed NOW ❤

The more you ask God questions, and go deeper into his word God answers. Your prayers and persistent in wanting to know him he lets you see him in his words in the small things . To knowledge his presence that is holy, that is peace and love. That he is everything you need , in the hard moments when only his presence comes through, he gives you rest if you receive him in your heart. To feel his peace after asking for forgiveness, when the tears of repentance are the relief to your soul.His love is the rest my heart has been looking for , I rejoice , I'm grateful for his mercy. The relationships you form can make or break you. You cannot be passive about Jesus, because giving your heart can never be a passive thing. It is a commitment, a covenant, if you will, ..remember as you said once.. the heart is the center of the body and the spirit. How did S2 affect me? For the most part, it made me become aware of how selfish I am at times (the ending of ep. 3), and how much I want(ed) to stay in my "comfortable" old ways. When Jesus asks the paralytic at the pool, "Do you want to be healed?" it shocked me that my answer was, "No." Also, the introduction to the beatitudes - oh my! Sooo good. I'll never read them the same way ever again from now on. S1 was mindblowing to me and like many I too picture the actors and hear their voices when reading the bible now. Thank you for the opportunity to rewatch S2 with you guys, and for your beautiful and open reaction to it. Looking forward to getting on the journey with you again in S3. 😉

With the reading back then, I’m not sure how many males could read either, as they did not have books at that point in time (only scrolls). I think paper and such was much more scarce, as they had to make it by hand. Also, if they wanted to have a copy of a “book”, they needed to hand write every single word to get just one copy. They just had a lot less to read back then, so I don’t know how important it was to their daily life to be able to read.

I'd have to respectfully disagree with the one comment about women in the Bible being treated as property. While it's true that some may have distorted what the Bible taught (the pharisees were proof of that), the Bible teaches this outright beautiful model where the man is the protector and provider of the family while the woman is the nurturer and housemaker (not housekeeper, houseMAKER; that's far more significant). The husband is the father who leads, the wife is the mother who teaches, and the motivation was supposed to be mutual love. The apostles taught that the husband was to lead, to protect and provide. The wife is to submit to her husband's leadership while taking care of the home (not just the house building) and teaching her children. Together, they are supposed to love each other and their family. Man and women aren't equals in the Bible because God created us differently to fulfill different roles that, when combined in love, creates a whole. That's why the Bible says that the man leaves his parents and becomes "one flesh" with his wife. Different gender roles for different purposes, together they fulfill the role of being one. That's the whole reason God created Eve: it wasn't good for man to be alone (God's words, not mine) so He created Eve to be Adam's helper. He created Eve from the rib of Adam because they were to come together and be one whole. It's unfortunate that our modern era has decided to forsake that and create a false and artificial sense of equality when the Bible teaches that the different gender roles between man and woman are beautiful and that they should be safeguarded as the divine design.
@scraytonify13 жыл бұрын
He created us to have different roles but we are EQUAL!!!! He loves us equally! He died for you as well as any man!
@jakobfel23 жыл бұрын
@@scraytonify1 He loves us equally, yes. Before the Father, we are equal. However, our role on earth is certainly not meant to be equal
@ninstone34573 жыл бұрын
@@jakobfel2 I think this is semantics. As a Christian woman, I believe we are equal in the sense that we have complimentary roles, neither more important than the other. Wives being instructed to be submissive to their husbands is within the context of a husband who is fulfilling his role and who is willing to die to protect her.
@jakobfel23 жыл бұрын
@@ninstone3457 I see what you're saying but it's more than semantics. It's not equality, it's divine balance. Equality is used by feminists to make everyone think they have a right to do what men do but in reality, the gender roles of men and women are different, designed in divine balance. That's why the first sin was aimed at that balance and it's why feminism has, ever since then, attempted to keep things out of balance because the demons know that God's design leads to stronger families raising children with better values which is a genuine threat to Satan's plans.
@verdeazul292 жыл бұрын
We are made equal in God's Eyes, he made a woman knowing than men couldn't be alone. He gave us different roles. Yet he didn't take away the importance of each role, is when men don't know how to be like Jesus , and want that summision with out knowing or understand that it's a blessing when a woman trust them. By equal is that we are all siner no matter if your male or female we are judge the same and love by God the same way, no human being is above the judgement of God.

Most of the men couldn't read either. The men only went to Hebrew School where they would memorize the Torah. Of the Apostles probably only Matthew could read and write at the time of this episode as it was a requirement for being a tax collector. Mostly only the rich and Priests could read.

In today's world there are so many things that are wrong with mainstream christians that turn non believers away from a life with Jesus, I see in your eyes and your heart that you have a thirst for him, I implore you to disregard everything else and seek him for yourself, soon will be the time when he comes back and calls everyone out of all churches to his true church., Bc none have it right . Have faith and God bless you brother.

Thank you for understanding where I am coming from with the "Non-Christian" Title. I appreciate that you took the time to leave such a positive comment. Disregarding everything else is impossible for me. The Non-Christian title has drawn a lot of non-believers and has brought a lot of people closer to God. I have not yet received a single person say that they have turned away from God because of my Channel. It's challenging to disregard everything else when there are hundreds of negative comments about everything I am doing wrong, when all I am doing is spreading the Love of God. It is disconcerting.

I would like to know if you truly are not a believer who exactly do you pray to? Important to know.

@@joshuaprokasy6763 the question was for Leonardo and a legitimate question since I am on the channel. It was not meant to offend although it may have to you. I am not pointing fingers because I'm not the judge although apparently you seem to have the answers. No I did not read your comment but I don't need to. Your aren't who I asked. There is good and bad in everything but don't be fooled or confused because the Bible tells me Jesus is the way the truth and the life and no one gets to the Father but through him. There are many gods people pray to but there is only true living God. My apologies to anyone who misconstrued my question but it was too know Leonardo and this channel better. He definitely seems sincere. Jesus spoke in parables but he was straight forward about who and what He believes.

There are fluctuations in life. Passivity happens, IMHO, when this life’s concerns takes over and sometimes you forget. But then something happens that kind of “snaps you outta” of it and you return with greater devotion
