+sudhindra srinivas This kid has a lot of talent but I have to give some credit to the late/great Amy Winehouse. She started this trend of retro, 60's music when she released her famous album, Back To Black. That album and music spawned other solo artists to embrace that era. Leon does the job very well. The kid has a lot of talent.

I’m 17. My boyfriend and I trade songs for each other to listen to every week. Most of the time, it’s songs we both already know but this one, I wasn’t aware of. It came out four years ago yet when I first listened to it, it sounded straight out of the 60s. Sounds like Sam Cooke. My boyfriend dedicated this song to me, as well as “Forever Mine” by The O’Jays. Safe to say, we both have very old souls. I miss time periods and eras that I wasn’t even born in. I adore music that takes me back. In this world today, we don’t hear songs like this much anymore. Thank you, Manuel for dedicating this to me. I love you. And Leon Bridges? Please keep on making music. We need you and love you.

I wouldn’t necessarily say talentless. I would just say it’s over saturated with low talent individuals & lacking lots in the love & soul department. But this music right here, is definitely full of love & soul, & it’s so refreshing.

Just discovered Leon Bridges tonight. Called a friend and told her about him. I'm from the old school and his style has touched my soul. Very talented young man. I'm actually smiling now!

Leon, you once stated (according to what I read when I googled you) that: “I didn’t know where I fit in,” he said. “I didn’t have any friends at school.” And ”People didn’t want to be friends [with me]. I had no place.” Well sounds like we have something in common...I don't have many friends as well. I have only one person who I can say is a friend of mines today. When I was in high school, I was mostly a loner. Anyway, now you are providing something positive to the world through your music. That's a good thing. I wonder who wants to be your friend now! Although I don't personally know Leon Bridges I always believed we were some how kindred spirits, and you confirmed why, so thanks for your (insightful) comment and, in our youth, had we three known each other we'd be inseparable/I'm sure of it.

This makes no sense... There has always been ''bad'' music. If you blame it on the generation/time of period - that you can't find good music for yourself, you don't really want to listen to better music.

+brownvid totally agree, some people are just less perceptive to the message pop music sells, it's all about money and sex and violence. I just love that music like this, even while being made in recent years, doesn't have any negative message, just pure emotion and creativity. I'm also a huge fan of classic soul and R&B so that plays a big part haha

I was the DJ for homecoming in sophomore year. One of the teachers brought her 3 year old twins to the dance. I played this song and all three of them held hands and just swayed together with the biggest smiles on their faces. Just them 3 on the dance floor, and it was the most beautifully wholesome moment I've ever witnessed.
