Ames was a North Eastern store very similar to K-Mart or a smaller walmart. They sold video games, housewares, groceries, pokemon cards etc. I remember getting a holo Zapdos from a pack I got there as a kid and opened it in the back of my mom's old red Sundance.

Hey I just wanted to say I really was taken back to a nostalgic place in this video when you mentioned the packs from the storage unit. The Rocket booster packs that had the sticker on them of the store 'Ames'. Ames was a store sort of like a Walmart/Kmart back in the earlier to late 90's. I believe they closed in the early early 2000s. Ames was located in Rhode Island. I used to occasionally buy my cards from there. Definitely a cool point in the video for someone like me who has actually been to that store and purchased boosters from it in the 90s. Keep up the great videos! I love watching the original packs opening sessions.. your content appeals to all age groups who love pokemon cards. Awesome job!!

My Dad used to be a manager at an Ames before the company went bankrupt and it literally laughed out loud when Leonhart was like a bunch of packs from a store called Ames which I've never heard of.

my son and I found that pokemon puzzle at a flea market for $0.25 . it was opened but had all the pieces, just no stickers. my 5yr old son had it put together within half hour of getting home. he is obsessed with pokemon so its really awesome to be able to get back into pokemon with him as something we both enjoy. we watch all your videos, your awesome! thanks

When you said Ames, the nostalgia kicked right in. I remember over 20 yrs ago being a kid in MA and going to Ames all the time in the Summer. Loved pokemon when it came out. I would say Ames was like Kmart before they all went out of business, just like Kmart. That is an amazing find. Congrats!

Man...that puzzle. I had that exact same puzzle when I was a kid. My mom and I put that together and used puzzle glue to hold it all together. We nailed it to the wall right above my head frame and it was like a poster. Good memories, I'm sure I have a picture of it in my room somewhere.

12:18 I have a few of those Cool Porygon promos. I think if I remember correctly, it came in the Pokemon Stadium N64 game. It might have also been distributed at the pokemon league events that used to be run at Toys'R'Us 19:36 I had that!!... and still have the bag and the coin =D ... and 21:30 I've still got tons of those pokemon badges!

Sadly I didnt get back into collecting the TCG until X&Y picking up what little I could and wish I could have continued throughout all those missed years. i used to open them the value for a child/competitive play is to open and play for the other people its a matter of preserving history i have just started it and i have not any older packs but what i do have is 33 packs from pikachu i choose you movie promo card packs all sealed over 90 cards in total also 11 of the Pokemon i choose you cinema exclusive cards i have 10 boxes of Pokemon generations red and blue collection i have a few other boxes tins and a few blister packs all sealed also a premium trainers collection a few booster boxes and Pokemon i choose you japan ga-ole disks of ash hat pikachu holding the rainbow wing x3 all of which is sealed i also have a sealed lets go eevee and a sealed lets go pikachu switch bundle all and now a sword & Shield duel pack with gold steel-book sealed :D i plan to keep adding as i go and keeping everything sealed while still having a bit of fun and opening some stuff every ones in a while packs going back to a time long past its nostalgia as stated in the video it don't have to be WOTC to be nostalgic.

Wow such nostalgia. I also went religiously to the leagues way back in 2000. My biggest regret is not keeping those e-series cards. When they changed the card format, i kinda got turned off coz i didnt want cards having different interface. I was very active from base set to neo revelation then my interest slowly died down in aquapolis, then completely quit after skyridge.
