Just the same way you’d have bawled if your favorite toy got taken as a child, the only difference being, this toy has offered a living for some people, a platform for art, and a way of life/making money. Some people have found communities where they finally feel safe and at home through this app. It is silly to cry over in the grand scheme of things, but considering the boost my band has gotten in views and plays from the app, when we were on the brink of breaking up due to lack of success, it’s a lot easier to see BOTH sides. You gotta change the title of this video to "REAL TALK, The Mental Health repurcussions of Social Media and the banning of TikTok." Also, all joking aside, everybody needs to listen to this video, too many people tie their self-worth to their online following and feel as though without it, they aren't anything at all. It's a sickness and it needs to be dealt with as such. Granted, this "sickness" isn't even remotely as severe as the ignorance that currently is taking over America, but it ranks at least 2nd by comparison. There is nothing in place to properly deal with Mental Health, you can lose a kidney, a heart, even a lung, and doctors can replace it. We have medicines and machines to aid or fix the majority of our physical problems, but nothing to stop or heal mental health problems, primarily depression and anxiety, both of which may be caused by something as simple as tying your self-worth to your online following. This then leads to higher suicide rates, (of which we are already facing the highest rates in the history of the world), which, simply put, leads to the downfall and de-evolution of mankind, and total halt of progress.

That's because any mental "fixing" involves looking at oneself in the mirror, & truly dealing with what one sees. That is the most difficult work, by far, anyone has to do. The level of straight up laziness, that is glorified, in the world today, runs exactly opposite to such work. Therefore, it never gets done, & people actually think there should be some quick fix, that they don't even have to be a part of, like the doctor fixing your broken leg. @@NarwhalGamingTV to back my dude up here, yeah they are: Audio-Technica ATH-M70 they are $300 and widely regarded by many to be a solid choice if you are going to have one paid of headphones for recording audio (where the audio bleed out being minimal is most important), but also for actually listening to stuff because they are not too fatiguing on the ears. You still shouldnt mix or master (or in my experience even produce/do sound design) on closed back headphones tho because open back headphones in that price range are way better at outputting the "true" audio aka closer to a reference audio source because they dont have the issues of specific frequencies bouncing around inside the closed cups making them seem louder or quieter than they are. why tf did I type this out?

Cybersecurity guy here: My issue is less with the data collected itself (although it's way more than I'd be comfortable sharing), and more about the lack of transparency and unwillingness to let the app be analyzed, as well as some issues with the code and previously existing "features" in the app itself. Social media apps definitely collect a ton of data, and send that to their headquarters and partners for processing. However, TikTok went out of its way to encrypt all collected data being sent out, even though much of the app's other external communication has been unencrypted in the past even when it should have been. Each update changed encryption keys as well, to make it even harder to see what was collected and sent in. That all is a bit weird, but to me what was an even bigger red flag was the design of the code and inclusion of modules intended to make it harder to debug and study the code of the app, especially around data collection. But by far the biggest issue I had with it was the past inclusion of a module allowing the root-privileged import of function libraries and the root-privileged execution of said code with no user input. That's not a bit of shady data collection hiding, that's either a horribly dangerous module, irresponsibly written and installed, or an outright piece of malware written into the core of the code itself. Most of those issues and inconsistencies have been resolved in more recent patches, but the fact they were in there at all makes me unwilling to even consider using the app, at least until I see some evidence that they're genuinely working to be more transparent with their application in both standard use and for debugging/security purposes. None of this is to say that other apps don't commit some of the same sins, just that TikTok was notably shady imo and deserves to be treated with some caution. (For anyone interested in fact-checking my sources and claims, I'd be happy to dig up some links to the code analyses and source code packages I read through. Never blindly trust a self-proclaimed expert on the internet, especially if they've got profiles as unprofessional as mine.)

I feel like they should ban TikTok. As a Gen Z, I have TikTok, but I wouldn't care if it gets banned. The platform is a breeding ground for pedophiles as well as other disgusting behavior. And for it to be where young kids gather is really concerning. So, I hope it does get banned.
