I use my stereo Two Notes Torpedo Cab m for speaker sims and external reverbs. It frees up processing power and I can free up my fx loop. It also, allows me to patch in my amp with reactive load as an option. I have a bank if AX8 cabs as well.

I bought the AX8 knowing the limitations. It works great. I can replicate my amps and pedal board very closely.

Great Leon thanks for this, the problem I have is getting the same sounds I'm hearing at home (via a pair Adams Ax7 by the way) to a live situation and similarly some presets I've bought sound pants to be honest straight out of the box, don't get me wrong I expected to have to tweak stuff to my individual gear but they all sound really harsh in general, any tips on how one would start in both a live situation and with 3rd party presets cheers Steve

ste528 a few critical factors to consider; Volume and the Fletcher Munson effect. Dial your gig tones in at gig volumes and go easy on low and high frequencies. Conversely, those patches will then sound dull at low volumes. The cab high/low cut and presence/depth controls are really vital there. The acoustic properties of the room you're monitoring in has a big impact, especially on the bass frequencies. Where do you have the Adams set up?
@ste5287 жыл бұрын
Leon Todd thanks for the quick response Leon, I've got them on stands in a smallish room (9ft x 7ft) going direct via xlr from the AX8. They are fantastic and bought them having watched your set up video, guess I just need to figure out the relevant tweaks and I'll then be set. Live I go straight to a pair of powered P A speakers bypassing the mixer but then I have the second out from the AX8 going to the mixer so I can have stage monitoring

ste528 glad you're enjoying them, they're really wonderful to play through as well as to listen to music. Do some reading and watching regarding monitoring environments and I'm sure you'll be able to get the tones leveled out.

Hey Leon, you've been producing some great AX8 content lately, keep up the great work!!! BTW....can you bring the fan back? I'm just jealous, you have hair and I don't...LOL

I'm sad to report the fan, after years of hard work through Australian summers, finally succumbed to the rigors of keeping my hair up and was given a Viking funeral last month.

I am considering buying one of these. I found a couple used since it seems that Fractal isn't making them anymore. Question, is there a a single delay with a dual setting so that I could run both a 1/4 and 8th note delay at the same time? If not, would it be possible to run 2 delays with these settings at the same time and still have enough CPU for a drive pedal block and a chorus at the same time? Thank you.
@LeonTodd5 жыл бұрын
Yes, there's several delay modes that let you run this. I use those settings in nearly all my live presets. I've got a bunch of AX8 videos up on here which should demonstrate them.

You might want to consider holding out for the FM3. It's the successor to the AX8. I don't know about the answers to specific questions but the FM3 should have a little bit more power and the new Ares amp modeling.

I'm considering replacing kemper with axe 8. The core amp tone just seems to be closer to what I like. So my question to you would be: how different did the two units feel when you profiled the axe? I've done the same and felt the axe was more natural in a way. Cheerios

Great vid! What are you using for a stand for the Ax8?
@LeonTodd7 жыл бұрын
Vince Halvorson it's resting on a monitor stand at the moment. It's stable enough in the studio but I wouldn't trust it live.

Hey mate, different amp in X/Y. How much lag are we talking? Seconds? Few milliseconds? Surely reverb or delay trails would make some of this specifically if it’s only a few milliseconds?
@bruunm19756 жыл бұрын
Re limitations: don’t think it will be a problem. I find that when using the BiasFX in Logic or Standalone I tend to use less fx as the overall sounds are better compared to my MS3 Boss. If that makes sense. So usually I would have a boost, drive, amp/cab, trem, delay and reverb. But other patches I just have the amp and reverb as they sound so good by themselves.
@LeonTodd6 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's more or less how I run it live. I do like to go crazy at home and pile on the fx with a clean tone.
@bruunm19756 жыл бұрын
Leon Todd, awesome thanks. And so back to my initial question. How much audible gab is there between two amp models on X/Y switching? Thanks for great videos and answering here.

Love your videos mate, have you tried the Headrush pedalboard? It seems to have more CPU power I guess

I haven't played one yet; the UI looks great, I'd like to see how the amp modelling stacks up to the AX8.

Hi Leon! Can you send me a picture of your Global Settings? For some reason, I'm getting a noise from my Fractal Ax8. Thanks

Francisco Coronel what sort of noise? Usher you eliminated other factors (guitar, cables etc)?

Normally when I remove the noise gate.

Francisco Coronel I leave the input gate on all my presets, usually with the threshold around - 60dB.
