Thank you for setting the height on your table saw blade correctly. Too many people don't do that -- too many injuries...
@justchillinout20025 жыл бұрын
It's interesting that you say that. Back in the 80's we were taught to keep the blade as high as possible, with a blade guard. It seems that no one ever uses a blade guard anymore, myself included. The reasoning for keeping the blade as high as possible was to reduce the chance and effects of kick back. With the way they have the blade set here, if it kick's back, the wood is flying! And likely firing right at you and taking the skin on your fingers with it. With a blade as high as possible, it was cutting on the down stroke and less violent kick back effects. The other issue is where the cutter places themselves whilst cutting.

Excellent job, was in my plans 25 years ago, started with programming an ST6 from SGS Thompson (now ST microelectronics). Was delighted when I was able to multiplex the display directly with the microcontroller. I was thinking of cutting polystyrene for the numbers and paint them with special plastic type material. But as usual I never finish anything. You working quality far exceeds mine.

Hey Leon van den Beukel, the Breadboard Schematic is incorrect. There is no need for the R4 330 Ohm Resistor, as the LED strip: WS2812B already has a Buil-In Resistor. You're just adding more Voltage drops. this is a good project. I will be making one some time, but with a way better feature that has not been seen on the Internet yet. I am not going to discuss this feature yet, sorry to you all as it is my idea and pretty sick to do :D My Digital clock will take a while, as I have other important projects to make first.

Exellent work. Great, and very beautiful. As a graphic designer I wish I had a way to design some other clocks to you. For example: round clock, 2 digits for hour in one line, 2 smaller digits for minuts, in 2nd line. ( I mean two rows of two digits each, one ander the other) all of this in the middle of a round clock, with a circular frame that blink for seconds!!! Blink per secund. I can see it work in my imagination...

Thats not just a 7 segment digital clock, its a 4 digit 7 segment display, the kind traditionally found on VCRs, microwaves, and many more devices with a clock or timer. Ive spent time messing around with them, there are libraries for the arduino just for these displays, and you can even do text, and other non-time related things. I have one that scrolls text at specific times(it scrolls, its midnight at midnight), flashes when numbers are the same (like 1:11, 2:22, ...), and sequences sequential numbers (like 12:34, 2:34, 4:56, ...) There are also these fancy 14 segment displays, and they do letters really nicely, I hanvnt messed with those yet though.
@robertlozyniak36616 жыл бұрын
If you use a 16-segment display, you can count all the way up to 19 with just one "digit"; however the ordinary digits (0 through 9) are perhaps a bit easier to read on a 14-segment than on a 16-segment display.
@robertlozyniak36616 жыл бұрын
I have a video on my channel of a clock that uses a 16-segment display. The principles of using a 14- or 16-segment display are exactly those of using a 7-segment display, except... you need to drive more segments! If you try using an Arduino Uno, for example, you will quickly run out of pins, so you will need to use a shift register or something in order to add more pins. I don't know if there exist libraries for 14- or 16-segment displays, but you could just write your own. They key to making it work, though, is the shift registers; I suggest you google "shift register" together with "LEDs".
@hippynurd6 жыл бұрын
I use 2 shift registers with my 4digit7segment project, ive used them enough to be able to make them work with 14 or 16. I modified someone elses code to make it work with shift registers, so I could probably do it with 14 or 16 too, but effort... Ive been messing with ws2812bs lately, but maybe one day I will try the 14 or 16 segment displays.
@robertlozyniak36616 жыл бұрын
The real "effort" is in doing the wiring (there is more of it), and also figuring out which segments you need for each letter or digit. If you want to do the minimum of effort to make things work, then only worry about the letters and digits you will actually use. For example, "MO TU WE TH FR SA SU" only uses 11 different letters.
@robertlozyniak36616 жыл бұрын
You mention ws2812b's. That reminds me of a project I have seen here: www.rickard.gunee.com/projects/mixed/colorclock/ Short story: the guy made a clock using two RGB LED's, one for the hours, and the other for the minutes (to the nearest five minutes). It does not use the WS2812B chip, but I'm guessing that WS2812B would work very well for that kind of project.
