yeah, good old V10 with 2 superchargers. I was a mech of them back in their days ....Sound was always on top of Leopard 2 because its turbo´s sit in the exhaust.

Agree! There is a fantastic sound engineering behind it. You cannot count the tanks comming towards you. I am always on the hunt for this sound, go to all tank sessions in Germany, but this one I have to visit as well!

So in one thing the Leo 1 is far superior to the Leo 2, the sound of the thing sounds simply richer, rounder and fuller than the Leo 2! The Leo 2 is just simply infernally loud. I love this engine sound.

In 1985 these 'animals' replaced our CVRT equipment in the RECCE batalions in the Belgian Army ...serious increase of fire power for our Recce troops . I think they would still be very effective in Ukraine nowadays

They already are in use in Ukraine. Germany delivered 90 of their decomissioned Leo 1A5 tanks to them. They proved to be of very limited use though. How come Belgium introduced the Leo 1 in 1985 to replace older tanks, while in Germany (and other countries) it was gradually being replaced itself by the Leo 2, since 1979?

Bin 1989 als Waffenmechaniker am Leopard 1A5 ausgebildet worden. Ich habe natürlich alles vergessen, aber nicht diesen affengeilen Motorsound. Bin mehrmals im Bergeleopard mitgefahren. Ich war hinterher jedesmal platt und zufrieden.

Hallo. Kommen Sie aus Russland oder der Ukraine? Ich bin nur Waffenmechaniker in der Grundausbildung gewesen und habe die Bundeswehr 1990 nach der Grundausbildung verlassen. Ich habe auch keinen Führerschein für den Leopard gehabt sondern bin mehrmals mitgefahren. Es ging mir bei meinem Post auch nur um den Motorsound an sich. Den T80 kenne ich nur aus Videos. Ich habe nur mal den Sound des M1 Abrahms gehört, der hat auch eine Gasturbine. Der hat auch einen tollen Sound.

The worlds best sounding tank is a tie between the MTU used in the Leopard 1 and the V-2 and it's derivatives used in the T-72 and T-90 :D!

yeah good luck shooting that from a Leopard 1. The Leopard 1 has an L7A3 gun without durability upgrades, the SK ammunition is for M68A1/A2 guns (basicly an L7 but designed for highr chamber pressures).
