You don’t need to be a technical expert to comment on poor quality control allowing bad workmanship.

A lot of our quality issues are not yacht specific but we did have what I would consider some serious and complex structural issues that needed uncommon skills to resolve. Fortunately these were remove and the yacht upgraded so it is far better than standard now.

I think anyone brand related would be better off not commenting, rather than trying to try to shift the blame, make excuses, or offering advice on what you should have done. They are just loosing any credibility If this was a one off, the manufacturer would have been horrified and desperate to correct their mistakes. Regardless, all warranty work should have been carried out well before you left Europe. There is no excuse for it not being completed in a timely manner. Colin fixed up a hurricane damaged catamaran quicker than you guys got your warranty work sorted.
@travelsketch25 күн бұрын
Well there are reasons and excuses that someone should pay for. None are our fault. The boat should have been seaworthy and was not.
@GentlemanNosh25 күн бұрын
Let’s face it, the only reason the are there is because of your absolutely excellent docuseries on their poor workmanship. I would suggest that they have finally realised that this debacle has cost them millions upon millions of dollars in revenue, and ultimately the only way to stop the bleeding is to fix all your issues. If that wasn’t the case, they would have had this all fixed within the first 6 months.

Most buyers of Leopard are not super rich, so a $M is a lot of money. Ask me to spend my $M on this quality of build and I’ll charter a boat. The poor quality hidden behind panels is disgusting. Sure a long fall from the build quality of the Original L46

@@travelsketch must be rather difficult to sell the product now, unless the buyer is rather silly and does no homework, how can they not know about all the defects in build, in my opinion impossible to fix, you have to be the only owner that has taken the time to investigate problems. Funny, I have a boat at haul out and walked past some older boats, they have issues most of the old guys doing the work because of extended delays with bottom maintenance, none with lack of structure, so they can spend money on upgrades and boat maintenance in general, not what you experiencing, its shocking and a disgrace to the legacy of the brand.

@@travelsketch I would like to mail them a big box containing what my dogs drop in my backyard because it is no different than what they are building. To get what you are truly owed from Robertson & Caine will likely require court litigation and it is very hard to determine what is fair and adequate compensation. A warranty is essentially a contract between the buyer and the manufacturer and when you purchase that product you are agreeing to the terms of that warranty and manufacturer's of all types are known to put many stipulations and exclusions into the warranty protecting the manufacturer. The compensation amount would be calculated and totaled on a number of criteria. The average daily rental cost of similar catamaran would be a good start, they should pay that amount for every day you have been deprived of it's use. The compensation you are owed is likely higher than the purchase price of the catamaran at this point. Once the extensive structural issues were discovered Robertson & Caine should have simply provided a replacement boat and they could have took this boat back and fixed it and sold it at a discount to a charter operator or to an individual. The punitive damages come from the harm caused by Robertson & Caine taking so long to remedy the solution. How do all the repairs affect the resale value of the boat. You purchased a brand new boat and not a patched and cobbled together boat. Robertson and Caine has essentially made you homeless due to the issue and no one should live in a construction zone of boat with chemicals known to cause cancer and other health issues. What would have happened if you guys left the boat and went back to Australia, would it have ever been fixed. Realistically if you wouldn't have made everything public and documented everything I doubt they would have ever fixed it unless ordered to by a judge. I just checked barefoot charter rates for 45' catamarans and the daily rate is $1200 to $1500 per day for 3 people so $1000 per day compensation is not out of the question.

It's really sad how you have been treated. The true value of any product is in the after sales service. As for Leapard I am sorry to say they belong in the gutter. A boat like that costs a fortune and the after sales support you guys is pathetic to say the least. I am a South African and really disappointed and can promise that not all SA companies are like that. At one stage I was looking at a similar craft but that will never happen now.
