If u want to remove a DC offset like that on the kick, the best way I found is to create an even bigger dc offset so the click is more consistent, and enhances the transient of the kick. I usually chop the beginning wherever the waveform breaches the 0db threshold.

I don't have Ableton so I still wonder what exactly he is doing in Operator? Is ist just FM but with amp and pitch envelopes on the individual oscillators? Because I cannot really understand how it works.

Its totally a FM synth with 4OSC and every osc got his own envelopes. Its a soft version of FM8 or any another FM synths ;)

@ Yeah, I actually have FM8. Well, also a ton of other synths that can do that I guess. I tried it with one who can only oscillate sine waves and the sound is not as crispy, but I guess using FM8 or someting, I could achieve similar things. Also, I need something to mimic the grain delay, I guess, but I got some ideas. Thanks for the answer and for uploading, btw. Such a good look into truly great and unique sound design!
