Never had to hide my yarn purchases. Quite the opposite. If I am out with hubby doing errands, he will ask if we need to stop at the craft store. Always, yes. Then I will find HIM in the yarn section before I even get there, and he is picking out yarn! "Feel how soft this one is," "Do you have this shade?" "Do you need to replenish any colors?" "You should just get all three, why pick?" I love my hubby.

I can add one I bet we’ve all done, and that’s “crochet until it hurts.” And the “it” can be so many things or combination thereof. Eyes, back, wrists, hands, where you stab your fingertip with the hook, elbows… I REALLY try not to, and remind myself it’s supposed to be fun… but in a combination with the “just one more row/round” mentality, I can really make myself sore.

I do: - Crochet past bedtime - Crochet in weird places - Underestimate yarn I don't: - Hord hooks (I started knitting before I started Crocheting, and one of the things I love about Crochet is that you don't need to worry about having a million different hooks like you do with needles (circular, straight, double pointed, different lengths...). I bought myself a set of clover amour hooks and that's it) - keep my projects (I almost never keep my projects, I love giving things away. In fact, the few WIPs I have abandoned are things I was making for myself.) - too many wips (I usually have a couple projects going at once, one smaller one for travel and a larger one for home. I almost always finish what I started.) - buy random yarn (pretty much all yarn I buy is for a specific project. I don't really have a stash) - get distracted from movies (I almost always have a movie or audiobook or something going when I craft) - buying too many patterns/not following patterns i buy (I rarely buy patterns. I know I will just use them as a guideline, so I usually just find something basic and free and use that as inspiration. The only times I follow patterns are for amigarumi, which I rarely make) There were actually way more things I don't do, those were just what I could remember off the top of my head.

I developed a new attitude towards frogging I wanted to share: I realized that once I’ve ripped back to the mistake, I’m just crocheting again, just the same as I would be doing had I not frogged. It’s just more crocheting, so just do it! Frog away and stop questioning yourself!😊 And maybe check more frequently so you don’t have to frog as much!

I tend to hold the project up to my husband. If he can't see the mistake, I find a way to fudge the next row to hide it more and/or keep the stitch count. If it's too obvious, I frog.

I often 'get away' with buying more yarn because..."Honey, every ball/skein/cake/donut/hank is a potential garment, and you know I'm not a clothes shopper..." BTW, Ireland is a wonderful crochetcation! Sheep? We got them. Yarn stores? We got them. Hand dyers? A few, but yeah. Scenic spots for crochet sessions and photos? Absolutely! Pubs too

I love both crocheting and knitting, too. No contest between the two. And while I'm not a "serial starter" with crochet projects, what I do is have maybe a crochet project and a knitting project going on at the same time. This benefits my hands to some degree because I'm switching up what I'm doing. Also keeps me more engaged because they are both fun in different ways. And I do buy yarn without a project in mind, and often don't know if I'll knit it or crochet it, sometimes I just wait and let the yarn tell me what it wants to be.

My number was 15. I’ve been crocheting amigurumi almost 3 yrs. I admit, I found after doing so many amigurumi projects that I was taking a pattern and another pattern then putting them together. I’ve been trying to do patterns completely from pattern but I’ve noticed that truly there’s a mistake or I just don’t like their technique. I still end up pretty close to pattern. I have decided next year and try my first pattern design. I’m finding I can’t find the pattern to do what I want so. It should be fun. I first need finish deadline projects. One other thing I need to crochet constantly so I always have a project with me. What’s fun I find it’s a conversation starter. Thanks for your videos. Sending prayers love and hugs.

I had new money on my account today 😊 So when I went grocery shopping, I again bought yarn even though my stash is already exploding. It's merino with a little cotton and the colors sooo beautiful. 😍 I also stay awake at night and only end my knitting or crocheting when falling asleep while handicrafting. My male Rottweiler usually leaves me and goes in his crate in the kitchen to sleep at about 10 at night, and only returns to my bedroom when I shut off the light and go to sleep. I also have about 20 slightly unfinished projects waiting. It's just the yarn ends that need to be sown in or washing and blocking that needs to be done... mostly. I always change patterns I buy. I just can't follow a single pattern from A to Z. I have problems giving away the projects I made for myself. And I have problems detaching from my projects I hang up in the public. I actually started yarn bombing to spread the fun and joy of yarn art. But I really dislike drunk people talking the objects down and at some point throw them away. I start talking to people if they have some bonnie fiber art on them. I got to talk to nice and interesting strangers this way. 😊 I buy too much yarn all the time. Even if I run out of money, I just can't pass by a beautiful yarn. Same with pattern magazines. 😮 I'm working on a self designed poncho right now and I'm crocheting it for the third time, because I had to rip it up as soon as I had finished it. This is exhausting. But I couldn't stand a piece that is not perfect. I always take a crochet project along, even if it seems I won't have the time to crochet at all. When visiting one of my sons, I used to take along several projects. Meanwhile I only take one along. As I have several health issues including cancer, I spend lots of time in waiting areas. I usually am the only one handicrafting there, but many people respond by telling me that they will start crocheting or knitting again to not just sit around waiting. I guess that's about all.

I have been a crocheter for 50+ years and surprised myself that I only got 8 out of the 28. I used to be the queen of fudging my crochet, and I sometimes still do this, but now I realize if I just fix it when I see it, I will be much happier with myself (and my project) down the road.

Fishing for compliments: I've gotten to the point where I tell my partner straight up, "Say something nice about [my crochet]" when I'm feeling the need for appraisal. Either the project was super difficult or time consuming or frustrating or whatever, and I need a little "that was absolutely worth all the extra time, money, and effort you spent" because that project definitely had me thinking "I could just buy this same thing from amazon for a fraction of the cost and zero effort." Because if I don't specify that I need to hear nice things, my partner just says generic things like "that's nice dear" which leaves me feeling patronized and looked over (which is not ever their intention, but just the way that my brain interprets anything less than "that's amazing" lol). lol. I had a box of yarn come in today, and I opened it up and said, "ooh, my blanket is here! Only a hundred hours of assembly required!" spreading the joy of crochet: 'm definitely not even a little bit bitter that my best friend decided to learn how to crochet recently. and he 1. didn't tell me and 2. didn't ask me to teach or help him :C I've known him for 20 years. and on some whim he decided he needed to learn how to crochet a donut? from youtube??

I love giving my work away. And sometimes, I get something wonderful in return. I chronically have more time than money, so I love making gifts, especially at Christmas. So I made lots of hats, mitts and scaves when my nieces and nephews were young. One Christmas I made a scarf, hat and mitts fir my then four year old niece Sara. When she saw what I'd given her, she had a smile that could light up a concert hall. "Thanks," she said. "It's exactly what I wanted!" That was the best Christmas present I got that year. I have squirrel brain, too, usually otherwise termed ADHD. I find that doing something with my hands actually quiets the squirrel as it has something to occupy it. Whole days can then disappear while my hands are engaged with hook and yarn. I also crochet on the bus. I get queries from young men - "Is that hard? It looks hard." My weirdest spot for crocheting? A cemetery. I was having trouble with my blood pressure dropping too low, so I ducked in to a cemetery I was passing by. Of course I had a project with me, so I sat on a bench in the shade for a couple of rounds till I was able to get up and walk again.

I have 18 of them! But, I'm basically a knitter that loves to crochet if only I could keep my edges straight. I'm lefthanded so that presents additional issues, but not with knitting! Learned to knit when I was 7 yrs old and taught myself to crochet at 23. So whenever you used the word "crochet" in your 28 items, I chose to hear "crochet or knitting"............ And OBTW I am one of those lucky people that can crochet, knit, read, eat in the car, the train, the bus, the RV. or boat! AND oh the war rages on: inline vs. tapered. I'm a tapered only chrocheter. Love your channel.

I’m guilty of most but the one that really gets me, and I thought I was alone in this one and probably nuts about, is getting too emotionally attached to my projects to sell them. So glad to know I’m not the only “NUT” out there. Thanks Elise. 😊
