I do a book version of the temperature blanket. For every book i read, i crochet a square that symbolizes it. Sometimes it's inspired by the cover, sometimes by something from inside of the book. At the end of the year i crochet it all together in chronological order and have a blanket of all the books i read!

While watching today, I’m working on a baby book of textures- each page is a 8x8” swatch of a textured stitch. Today’s pages were shell stitch and crab stitch :) Already finished bobbles, wonky granny, basketweave, and diamond waffle…. Only 8 pages left! Love the book covers, though. ❤

I’m more of a knitter than a crocheter, so I knit when watching my regular KZbin videos as I can do plain knitting without looking. I’m currently using a row counter from Twice Sheared Sheep and it’s made a huge difference! No stopping to pick up a pen to count rows or losing the paper my counts are on. Game changer.

I am a chronic depressed person with many forms of arthritis. As each year steals more of my ability to be independent I have credited my crochet with keeping my hands from crippling disfigurement. After 30 years of Rheumatoid arthritis even my medical team has said crochet has been better therapy than they could prescribe. I have chased ambulances to emergency with family more times than I can count. My son is a brittle diabetic and autistic and has diabetic seizures. My first husband died after 2.5 years of suffering from diabetic affected attacks. Hubby # 2 is very ill with severe COPD and his doctor is surprised he is still alive with his numbers. I have a "to go" bag ready always. Cell phone charger, battery bank, and a crochet project. Usually dishcloths. They have been my worry beads and my prayer focus item. My grandmother taught me over 55 years ago. And she just wanted me to get out from under her feet. I wonder what she would think now?? 😊

@@EliseRoseCrochet I purchased a Frog and Toad compilation book on Amazon for about $10 about 6 months ago after seeing and purchasing the pattern. I thought that that would make a great gift set. I have been moving, so this has been on a back burner. Frog and Toad were favorites of my children when they were small. My youngest is 34, and has a room with a wall full of books. We read every night when they were little, and I think books are a wonderful gift for new parents!

This vlog inspired me to re-think temperature blankets and my thoughts landed on this idea…what if I could find the daily temperatures for my hometown the year of my birth? (1962)…how fun and so much more meaningful would it be to make that temperature blanket! Then I thought about doing this for children the year of their birth and etc…it was easy to find the info on Google and now I just have to assign my colors and I’ll be ready to stitch!
