My grandpa passed away listening to these oldies. Said it always helped him remember growing up in the late 30s, 40s. He said it was when the world was so simple and everyone was so polite and nice. He would talk for hours to me and my siblings about what our generation is missing out on. He said the generations of social media takes so much away from us growing up. He always had his records playing. He loved Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra and some much older singers I can't remember. Anyway have a good day everyone and a peaceful night

I lived before social media n trust me you aren’t missing anything. I was in abuse at home n surrounded by bullies n nasty ppl around our area. Very isolated n social media when it first came out was the first connection of honesty about what was going on at home for me growing up in teens n support. It saved my life in more ways than one. Friends was easy access to support me through the life threatening violence at home n got me help. I was able to record some of it to send to them. Couldn’t got out of it without the communication over social media as I couldn’t see them often n when I did I was too scared to talk face to face. I’m isolated now n social media keeps me connected n less alone n helps a little with mental health. Can’t imagine a world where everyone was nice. It most likely would have been a keep up appearances. My abusers were very good at also being very nice helpful generous n polite outside the home. No one would have suspected what was going on at home or under the surface. And The polite manners of those times would come at a cost of hiding n not talking about emotional health n needs n abuse etc those things were highly shunned in the 30s n 40.s women also didn’t have a voice or rights neither did children. So much different from your granddads experience than it was for women in those times. Let’s appreciate and be grateful n make most of what we have now as we have so much now even the past on top of that to enjoy. Each period has its advantages n disadvantages. But if we don’t enjoy what we have now we will soon also look back longingly n miss it.

This is the kind of music that my grandparents listened to, that they raised me on. They raised me on old radio shows, old movies....This reminds me of staying over at their house in the winter. They didn't live far away; I could easily walk to their house, and did very often. I miss them terribly. They passed eleven years ago, and I still think of them often.
