This song hit a very special spot for me. I know the whole album is mostly about the singer's anxiety problems and depression. Having a general anxiety disorder myself, I relate to a lot of stuff on that album. The ending part of this song just get me every time. I think Leprous is not as instantly «likable» when you compare them to Haken or Caligula's Horse, but as you pointed out, there is a looooot of variety in their albums. They also are a killer live band and Baard Kolstad, the drummer, is one of the finest and most interesting out there.

Believe it or not, there are no electronic elements to the drumming in this song. Baard's legitimately _insanely_ good at weird rhythms and dynamics control. Worth watching a drumthrough of his to see it first-hand

Hi Casey. I think Leprous is the perfect band for 2020 and I've really enjoyed them after getting introduced to them over the summer. The emotional intensity of their music could be on the soundtrack to try to explain this year in the world. Their live video released this year for the song "The Sky is Red" is my personal anthem for all of the insanity and beautiful moments of this unforgettable year. It also features a very distinct break in the song which feels like our election. Hopefully you continue to check them out. Maybe they aren't for you but they are extremely talented and they are doing their own thing which I can respect and somehow their music has helped me to process this difficult year.

Hands down my favorite song on the album, it's just so powerful, Einar's vocals really shine in this one. I hope you give Castaway Angles a listen, it's their new single, apparently recorded in one take

I like bands like Leprous where you don't know what to expect with the next album as they explore and experiment different sounds/styles. I'm more hyped for these kind of bands then let say Amon Amarth for which the recipie is almost the same from an album to another (I like them still by the way). Leprous defenitely went less heavier with time. To a point that i hesitated first to buy their Pitfalls album. But, I did and the more I listen to that album the more I enjoy it. The thing for me with reaction to music is that it is very very rare that I get the "wow" factor on a first listen of a band. More of the time I get to enjoy bands or songs afer many listens. However, first time I heard Leprous with song The Price, i've got right away mind blown, thought that it sounded fresh and that it was exactly the kind of new music if was searching for, like I've just discovered a gem. Probably explains why I like them very much up to this day. So, very happy to see Captain do reactions for this band and hope that more are coming!

I love how they have made the cellist part of the band. It adds so much to their music. I agree that they are distinct and have a wide variety of songs and styles. They also use keyboard more. Leprous is one of the bands like Caligulas Horse and Periphery that I can listen to albums straight through. I would listen to a heavier song next.

I enjoyed this one a lot. First listen I thought it was good, but it was definitely a grower. There's a lot going on even though the arrangement is sparse, even in the realm of dynamics (though a lot of metal guys will say that it's all buildup until the end) with lots of ups and downs throughout

And I think it's the kind of song that is even better in the context of the album. I mostly listen to Leprous by putting the whole album on.

I certainly think leprous is their own entity, while they are definitely progressive they really sit in their own realm musically. Einar has one of the greatest voices in music of all time. Reminds me of Freddie Mercury. Baard Kalstad is one of the best drummers in all of music too... the band in general is just super talented lol. Great video though!!!

Among the new kings of modern prog, while Haken's my favorite overall, I think Leprous might be the "coolest". Something about their sound strikes me as, like you said, super distinct. (I also adore Einar's voice, I think it's eerily gorgeous.)

I agree! My kings of new prog are Leprous, Haken, and Caligula's Horse. Such an amazing trio. I feel so lucky to have watched these bands grow. I hope they all make music for 10-20 more years!

Their sound pretty much changes every album, sometimes more, sometimes less, but they evolve. Their newest song "Castaway Angels" is also very very beautiful. "Slave live at Rockefeller" gets recommend alot too, cuz i dont think you reacted to song from the congregation album yet so maybe that would be also a good call for the next reaction by them.

Dude i love this song. Leprous grew on me a lot. I loved haken a ch immediately but leprous took a bit. Mostly bc of his voice. But it grew on me too. So now leprous is up there in top new prog but still not headliners for me.

I think it is hard to pick a song or even a handful that define leprous' sound. I have listened to alot of Pitfalls, Malina, and The Congregation - their last 3 studio albums - so far and they definitely have a few different "takes" and its true what other commenters have said, their sound varies every album. My personal preference is from The Congregation - The Price.

The Price is the first song I heard from Leprous many years ago... and it just blew my mind. Would be nice that Captain react to this song one day (I know, I could pay for that to happen ;) )

There is no instrumental song to go away from his voice on their albums :) Actually, each song represents their uniqueness. I can not pick a song to sum them but still advise "Red" or "The Weight of Disaster"

Really funny how I absolutely HATED Einar's voice the first bunch of times I tried listening to Leprous. I even saw them live with Haken, and couldn't get into it at all. For some reason, this album (Pitfalls) flipped a switch in my head and now I adore his voice. Makes me wish I could've appreciated seeing them live when I actually did... since that probably won't be happening again for a while. I wonder how many other bands I'd fall in love with if I just forced myself to listen to them more!

Love Leprous. I remember watching your earlier Leprous reactions. I think it’s a matter of preference. I can’t get into Haken or Caligula’s Horse. There isn’t a single song that represents Leprous because they are so diverse. But one of my favorites of theirs is “The Sky is Red”. It’s a journey.

Yes Leprous is amazing! Haken was my favorite band for a long time, but from their recent albums, Leprous takes that throne. I can't really get into most of Caligula's Horse either, except for about 5 songs which I think are really good. (Graves, Atlas, Tempest, Slow Violence, Salt). Leprous is just the best thing ever for me, at the moment. edit: I second The Sky is Red!

Cool thing about Haken, though, is that a lot of their work ties into itself. Like, there's an overarching narrative in their albums. And, to a lesser degree, I feel like Archspire does the same thing in their narrative structures on their albums. At least, to some extent. For example, look at Scream Feeding and Human Murmuration. That's the only connection that immediately comes to mind. But I haven't read the lyrics in awhile. And I don't give a shit how metal you claim to be, nobody can just understand Oli's vocals.
