His doors were good, issue is the body is to soft around the A-Pillar upper corners. To much aero loading on that tiny area holding the windscreen load. The windscreen flexing inward, twisted the A-Pillers, kicking the side of the A-Pillar outward, which allowed air to grab the window. The windows left the chat first. Drivers window took the door with it, the passenger door stayed and just lost the window.
@9rjharper
@9rjharper Ай бұрын
Kinda makes sense, but I thought they had some little plinths at the top so that the body will sit on the cage. I wonder if they fix the front lip/“spitter” issue that was mentioned in the Cleetus video it would allow less air inside the body. Plus cutting out the front fender vents that they mentioned. I think it’ll all help, but they’ll have to do something to secure the front of the door. Pop rivet a piano hinge on the outside (just kidding).
@LostPilotage

@@9rjharper There are supports that hold the middle of the roof above the windscreen up, but I didn't see any support in the corners and up the A-Pillars.

I was thinking the same. He is a big guy and I have never seen him standing. My ass kills me from sitting too long working at the computer in my shop or in the house, and I always wake up in pain and if I'm not in pain, then it is muscle tension and stiffness. So, I know what it is like to NEVER be in a comfortable position, and I still work in the trades and do a bunch in my own shop. Chronic, incurable, health problems really suck. The tall office chair in my shop has a worn out seat and I tore down the fabric and foam and was trying to decide what to replace the foam with.......a home depot knee cushion for the bottom layer, gel layered upholstery foam, and now it has a cushion from amazon and might just get the knee pad covered in fabric for a base layer. He is still there building cars. A lot of people wouldn't bother to be productive, so as much as my eyes say wow, my brain also says wow for the guy building crazy cool race cars.

As a builder of anything there is no bigger award than client being happy and excited like Cleetus was. Considering he w real life racing goes, how little time there was to make it, and on top of that that you were dealing with two products of some other people this is not a failure at all. You make it, you test it, you find a weak spot, you fix it and you test it again. Rinse and repeat until it is blue printed and bulletproof. Giraffe proof 😊 Tbh that is a huge ask to be Cleeterproof. He will push it to the limit. That is why he and his team is what it is. That is why people love him. This alpha door version was great start. I am 100 percent sure it will be sorted out soon. Glass-fiber is easy to repair and quick to make if you have a mold. It can be made bigger and cut to measure. Once they are fine and there is a time it would be better to make a few pairs though. Wear and tear and vibrations at high speeds will eat on those. Great work guys. Good speed!

The body held up perfectly. Those doors are much more of an engineering feat than most people would realize. I'm confident that you'll find something that works. I bet just a slight ramp in front of the window edge would help a lot.

You guys crushed this, as usual. Awesome seeing you guys come full circle on the Leroy stuff. This car is gonna be nasty once everything is totally dialed in. Cleeter drifting that thang through the cool down on the track was intense.
