This is what I call being a man. Addressing trauma, owning it, and dignifying your manhood. Not too bad🙋🏽♂️

I'm from a Jamaican background, UK born and raised with both parents from Clarendon, Jamaica. It is a fact many Jamaican parents treat their children with a cruelty that almost defies belief with most of it coming from the mother. After one particularly harsh beating from my mother as a child, I swore I would never beat my own children if I was lucky enough to have them. My kids have just turned into adults now and I can gladly and proudly say, I never ever beat them, not even once. The cycle of abuse has been broken.

I'm from London, UK. It's a Caribbean problem: some trace it to slavery, and brutalization of slaves (whipping, burnings, irons etc)which normalized cruelty on a domestic level. Many Caribbean writers have touched on the issue. Respect.

Captivating story! Handsome gentleman! My eyes were glued to the screen. His story is in some way the story of my daddy's life. I'm realizing with lachrymose that I'm going to miss him telling me tales of _chuppance_ and _quatti_🥺💔 Can't wait for *PART 2!*

We need to stop the normalising of abusing children in Jamaica. Slavery is over the whipping need to stop.

I share your same sentiments, Kasiea Stevenson. A LOT of men suffer in silence, because of fear of being ridiculed and it is deemed (according to society) as not being the “manly” thing to do. God bless you 🙏🏾

Single households with mothers are the worst…they cannot raise children and am speaking from experience and from what I see
@kgthoughts3 жыл бұрын
its was even worst back then cause the mothers didn't have as many resources or support unless they lived with family and they got ridiculed by society for either divorcing or having children out of wedlock...

Because it’s a two persons job. Children weren’t designed to be raised by one person, unless there was a tragedy and one of the parents fell ill/passed away
