Beethoven’s piano sonatas are among the towering compositions in music history. But even in this heralded oeuvre, "Les Adieux" stands apart. Built into the score itself is a story of multiple departures, from joyous to bittersweet. William Kinderman, leading Beethoven scholar and accomplished concert pianist, guides us through this singular work. In this lecture-performance, he illuminates Beethoven’s genius. He is joined in conversation by musician Jancie Philippus.
