Anyone else noticed how at 4:48 Fursy holds Audrey's hand with a happy expression, but at 4:51 he's holding the cards like he never let go of them, and pretty much ignoring her? Also, 3:02 ...That smile says "I forgive you"

Only discovered this band today, after reading a small article on them in an issue of Metal Hammer.. I love small coincidences like that.. when you (luckily) stumble upon such beautiful, moving music...

I would agree to some extent, as I do prefer Les Discrets to Alcest personally. I see Les Discrets as the dark side and Alcest as the light side, two equally powerful forces. However, both bands are fantastic in their own unique ways.

Lyrics: "I divine behind a whisper (i guess through a whisper) The subtle rustling of the ancient voices And, in the musical glimmers O pale love, the future of a sunrise And my soul and heart upside down No longer are but some kind of a double eye Which flickers through an uncertain day The arietta, alas! Of every lyre O dying like this all alone As leaving, dear frightening love Swinging young and old hours O dying of this swing"

To say ive never actually listened to this band is now an insult. This song (and video) show me that i shouldn't ignore the pleasures of a band such as Les Discrets. I also get the feeling that if this song was sung in english, it probably wouldn't be as 'atmospheric'. Just a feeling.

The music video is beautiful..if confusing: So was Audrey dead the whole time and Fursy got a chance to be with her but wasted it? I can't be so sure..
@marcosbubbles8 жыл бұрын
AtrocityEquine maybe, I don't even think they were ever together. I think she is in the video but as a symbol for a girl, I'm guessing this music video is showing he had a girl and lost her, he just used Audrey to play the girl in the video. But yeah based on the music video, Audrey is Dead.
@Liviu9874 жыл бұрын
the story is about repeating the same mistakes in the first part he is following Audrey almost passive, then remembers about his previous mistakes that led to the suicide of his former friend and rushes to the grave, this is represented physically by the run to the cemetery but the point is to represent it psychically more, the chaotic camera movement adds to this. then in the cemetery when he turns he sees that Audrey is there, metaphor that in the end one way or another he got what he desired. The dinner scene is where he repeats the same mistakes, getting overwhelmed by mundane activities, caring less and less about his friend. The exit in the dark represents suicide, you can see the gloom spreading from the door to inside the room after she exits. Then the end scene is the return to the first grief scene, this time with one more grave, the cycle repeated itself
@No-Kung-Fu8 ай бұрын
@@Liviu987 1. What do u mean "got what he desired"? 2. The end scene has the exact same number of graves as before. The camera then zooms out a bit so you can see TWO more graves in the front. I doubt those 2 more graves have any meaning and it's defin itely not one more grave. You're making shit up and acting as if your speculations are facts. Kinda weird.

I am merely supposing, but I suspect that Audrey's character is dead, and that Fursy's character is attempting to reconcile his feelings of guilt over her death. I think this, as the ending sequence, with the dinner table, and Audrey's character walking into darkness, gives me the impression she committed suicide, and that she did so partially because Fursy's character abandoned her, as we see in the opening sequence, with him following her and running away, and again at the dinner table.

@AvetOvDnaEvol Lately I feel their path crossed. Les Discrets used to be much quiter than Alcest. Alcest got calmer, Les Discrets goes more to a dark ambiant metal rock music. But that's true that Ariettes oubliées and Les Voyages de l'Ame are similar. Not sure the next productions will be
