I won one of these the other day. Sharpest cutter I have. Nicest cutter I have, hard as hell to figure out how to use without tearing an end off the edge. It’s just different, I’ll get used to it eventually.

Nice item, but I prefer a conventional cutter. And here I thought I'd mention that as long as you have a flat surface, there is no need to line up with a conventional cutter, so that's not really an argument. You just open the cutter, put in on the flat surface, put the head in and cut it. Obviously the small distance between the blade and the surface is more or less exactly just the cap. You don't really even have to watch what you're doing and it takes 3 seconds. So for pure practicality and simplicity, the cutter wins every time. You can also take it on a plane. The only exception I can think of is that you can easily sharpen the knife. I have no idea how long a quality cutter stays sharp. I haven't noticed any difference in mine yet, so I suspect it takes a very long time. Aesthetically the knife wins though.

Yeah that’s definitely fair, although the flat surface method won’t work with every single cutter. That Xikar XO for example is way too thick and would cut too much off the cap so it doesn’t apply to everything. But for simplicity and price a regular dual blade cutter is definitely a good option!

@@StogieLads Yeah I figured there'd be cutters that are too thick, I just haven't seen any myself. Good reason to not get one of those then I'd say.

Sadly this will never get through airport security, even here in EU when traveling I always get caught and have to explain it's a cigar cutter and I'm allowed one personal cigar cutter on me. This just feels like an wasted and overpriced cigar accessory. Regardless great review though Karl!

Hahah yeah that's risky! These are supposed to be legal almost everywhere as they pass the limit for a pocket knife according to Les Fines Lames, but with the stabbing situation in London maybe it's a different story over there.

They should make it so it can lock in place like a pocket knife.

Lol this is a pocket knife :p uts called a friction folder. Bassically a very very historic design! Big reason why they didn't make a lock is so it can be legal bassically everywhere ;). Alot of places like UK don't allow locks. And theoretically if you use a pocket knife correctly it shouldnt need a lock.. The way you add pressure for a cut is always in the way the blade opens. Also the peice that sticks out called the horn, that acts as your lock cuz your thumb holds it ;) hope this clears it up

I believe there is no locking mechanism due to European knife laws, this is a friction folder which is an old classic design. Many countries prohibit the carry of locking blades, friction folders have an advantage over slip joints as your thumb will prevent the blade from folding onto your fingers even though it is not ‘locked’.

Nothing cuts better than a double guillotine cutter. This is for the perfectly humidified cigar. If it's too dry, it'll flake/split like it did when he cut it the first time, and if it's over humidified, it'll won't cut that well, and you going to ruin the wrapper. Stick with the double guillotine cutters.

I won won of these and am having the same issue. It’s a very sharp cut, but I keep fraying the edge. It has more to do with me not pressing all the way through and “ripping” it at the end. It’ll get better with time.
