Les was not just a terrific guitarist, inventor, and innovator, and great storyteller, but he was a beautiful person. Les played for years at the Iridium in Manhattan on Mondays, like at this show. And at the conclusion of each show, he would usually spend time with other guitarists and fans that wanted to meet with him. It was always a delight to meet and talk with him. Although he had difficulty with arthritis in his later year, his mind was always sharp and he had a wonderful sense of humor.

I met Les in the mid 90s at the House of Blues in L.A. for a celebration of him and his life, and he signed the Les Paul guitar I'd had since I was a boy. It was stolen a few years back, but I bet he'd smile and say "Don't you hate when that happens?" He is an inspiration for us all. Les you are missed and remembered lovingly...

Yep. Steve's Dad was a Pathologist and an amateur recording engineer, and Les and Mary Ford would record there as well as socialize. Steve's Mom was Matron of Honor and his Dad was Best Man at Les and Mary Ford's wedding. When Steve was born, Les became his Godfather.

@@ga0425 This explains why Les Paul was gushing love for Steve in this video. He took the 10 year old Steve Miller and taught him some things, and can you imagine over the years how happy Les Paul was every time a new Steve Miller song hit the radio waves and to the top of the charts. "That's my boy" One of the best stories in rock history.
