Japanese woodworkers are the best in the world. Im always amazed at how far ahead of us American woodworkers they are. Their tools, joinery, and overall skill and attention to detail puts the rest of the world to shame. I own one or two Japanese woodworker’s planes and they are an absolute joy to use. I love watching the videos of their blade makers forging their exquisite tools. Someday I hope to own a set of Japanese chisels made by a true artisan toolmaker.

you are just looking at the wrong woodworkers.. some of the great guitar luthiers have been in the US since Gibson started. They are not at Gibson... but the artisans are out there.

@@norsangkelsang7939 How old is the oldest wooden building in USA? Maybe 250~300yrs old? Look at japan, it’s 1300years old.
@skatertwig26Ай бұрын
@@商品Aさん Yeah but America has not even been a country nearly that long haha Both American and Japanese woodworkers can be very skilled, it doesn't need to be a competition. I have a Gibson Les Paul Standard, and used to have a Tokai. The Tokai was better built, but I just liked how my Gibson played more. My Esp e-ii is also better built, it all depends on the individual making it. As a whole it seems Japanese workers take more pride in their work in general, where in America it's often the job just needs to be done efficiently. That said, if that person in America is passionate and skilled, they can create some of the best guitars in the world.
Call me a paranoid, but I got anxious about your long hair close to that buffing machine. The guitar is perfect. I wouldn't put trem on a LP inspired guitar, but the owner knows what he wants, not me. The guitar ended gorgeous, congratulation for both the constructor and the owner.
@manofthewest679 ай бұрын
I have long hair too and the thought crossed my mind, the Lady who was scalped by a machine in China? that's a horror story and a reason to tie back or wear a hat or both, that aside a beautiful Guitar and like you i wouldn't put a trem on this either.
@jan-udosiefkes9 ай бұрын
People get worried about the sustain with a trem. I built a double cutaway Les Paul style with a strat headstock at mahogany neck with Rosewood fretboard for me. Very slim body because more feminin, lol. The wood is very old and the sustain is very good. I used an original Floyed Rose, but the German Schaller also sounds very good.

I never get tired of watching Japanese artisans - whether it's crafting guitars or forging a knife. My Japanese grandfather, who was born in the 1800's, had this kind of focus when doing any task. I marvelled at watching him as a kid.

There are a lot of things that I admire about the Japanese people. Craftsmanship is one major thing I like and admire about the Japanese. Japanese craftsmen and women do not seem to be in a rush to finish a project they seem to be more interested in the perfection of the craft.

I love the reasonable combined use of NC machineing and handwork. Also the initial neck profiling using machining I saw for the first time and I have to say I belive it is better, more precise and error proof method than going by the hand all the way from the begining. And lastly I appreciate the spraying of the guitar without wearing the gass mask with filters!

I have a 1962 Japanese built Aria Classical Guitar. I was offered $4,000 by a former NYC School of Music teacher. She begged me while living in Israel. Then in 2014 my classical music teacher asked me to sell it to him for $4000. I still have it and rearly play it. When I wrote Aria in the early 2000's they told me it was built by a Japanese Master and was part of about 500 guitars that were built by him. I think Japan's craftsmanship and attention to detail is fantastic.

Beautiful work! The pride of Japanese craftmanship is far beyond anything elsewhere. I have a Japanese Charvette that even though it suppose to be bottom tier is superior to any American junk that was 3 times its cost newly built at that time (1990). I believe the Japanese can't build a bad guitar. All that said I loved the work but the locking tuners weren't needed for the Floyd Road double locking system. Although I guess you could say this is a triple-locking system!
