Kipo, as a show, is unhinged and I love it. Also, people tend to forget that, despite his... Daveness, Dave is, in fact, immortal (save for that one weakness). He may just be the strongest character in the show, canonically.

He is probably ONE OF the strongest, yeah. That's why the show kept nerfing him with his low self-confidence, or... putting a timer on his super buffed form. His immortality is still pretty OP though.

The secret lore of this episode that everyone seems to gloss over is that Dave single-handedly destroyed the entire city. Because of a fan.

I am so glad you watched this episode. I really enjoy how Dave's story can be an allegory for so many wars. A conflict starts for a petty reason like resources (in this case, a fan), the conflict escalates, people become indoctrinated in the conflict, struggle is passed down through generations despite the originating conflict being stupid, and wasting resources over the conflict. Of course, death and destruction follows.

This episode was amazing to me back when it first came out. I love characters who always try to stay positive and do good, but sometimes it's actually refreshing to see them break from that and just be angry 😊

Maybe the fan was that important to him but the Fanatics just wanted the Daves out of the city. And since they were always after Dave, he just assumed they wanted the fan too

​​@@Celestia282A thing I noticed is that Dave said he "fought bravely" while it showed him fearing for his life and hiding. So why lie about a supposed lie? I believe what they showed, just not everything he said 😅

@@kachosuffer7 Exactly. Dave's narration was clearly "exaggerated" in places, but there's no reason to assume that what we saw was inaccurate. The fact that the visuals openly contradict Dave even lend credence to the idea that they are true. Why call out an unreliable narrator with another unreliable narrator?

I think Dave is the wrong person to talk Kipo down. He's so funny and it was hard to tell if his story was real or not. I couldn't take his story seriously because it was hilarious.

I totally get the piece arguments They try to make in this show. However, it only works out as contrived because the script demands it. If they wanted to actually explore such a difficult topic, then they should’ve chosen a different route. Maybe it would have been more effective if Kipo had been persuaded not to sink the boat, but then another character (in addition to the cast we have) does it anyway. The same result, but it’s not on her hands. Then it would be her job to make peace in the aftermath. I don’t know. But I do know that in real life people don’t just make peace because you invite them to a dance. Sometimes, use of force is the only solution.

So far, I think “Dragon Prince” does a better job of addressing the cycle of violence. The story centers around a few kids who find their reasons to break with the cycle. There isn’t the automatic idea that most of the adults will just turn around and be nice. If anything, adults are trying to stand in the way.

They both do a good job of addressing it in their way. There's already a really good quote from Kipo here, "You can't end a war by fighting it." and "Choose to stop fighting and break the cycle."
