The Leshan Giant Buddha is such a unique attraction to visit, you can only imaging the effort that went in to constructing it. We also finally managed to have an authentic hot pot on our final evening in Chengdu. I have written a FREE China Guide Book PDF with all our tips, tricks, best hotels, places to visit and more, you can download it here: bit.ly/4d8D23t
The "fat celery" looks like celtuse, or stem lettuce. It essentially looks like a romaine lettuce with a very long stem, and you actually eat the stem rather than the leaves. It is relatively popular in China actually, a lot of Sichuan dishes will have these in them.

ancient chinese are very smart and these carvings are full of metaphors. do you know why the budda is built there? if you look at the mountains from afar at a certain angle you can see a giant lying budda, and leshan budda was carved at the head of this lying budda. the icecream you got is tower shaped, and the tower is the male private part of the lying budda, no kidding. if you go inside the tower, you can see there is a hole at the top and you can see the sky thru the hole, why this design? you got it, right? not all chinese knows the lying budda either. the lying budda story is forgotten for centries, and rediscovered by accident as I said, you have to see it from a certain angle to realize that it is a lying budda over there.

for the hot pot, actually I noticed you didn't use the sauce, the sauce is the key and soul of the hot pot. usually you need DIY the sauce by yourself. e.g. put spring onion, ginger juice, garlic juice, coriander, sesame juice, sesame oil, chili oil, pepper, vinegar, soy sauce, etc together. when you pick up the food from hot pot, you need put the food into the sauce first before eat, it make the food more tasty. BTW, in China, if the food or hot pot is too spicy, you can always order the rice or noodle, when you eat rice with the spicy food, you will feel much better.

I also had bad experiences in Leshan because it was always crowded there and very tiring climbing up and down the stairs. But walking around the Buddha’s giant feet and looking at the Buddha’s head from there is an unforgettable memory though.

The dad is a perfectionist! But things often go out of expectations. Traveling is not only expensive but also strenuous! Hopefully don't let kids over exhausted. The Dad chose a smart travel route. 桂林山水甲天下Guilin's scenery is the best in the world. Look forward to watching your next episode!!❤❤
When you're in China, it really builds your patience. The patience to wait in long queues (or choose not to), to endure the cacophony that comes with a large amount of domestic tourists even in sacred and holy places like Mt Emei, etc. I've been to China few times and it's easier for me since I'm from SE Asia. Domestic tourism has taken off spectacularly since a couple of decades ago when the middle class grew and still growing. I mean China has almost any type of landscapes to travel to because it spans across different latitudes. You just need to know how to go, which entrance to go, what time to go (to escape most of the crowd), what time of the year to avoid China altogether (eg their chinese new year and national day) and lastly but most importantly, a huge deal of patience because almost anywhere u travel in China, there will be a lot of people. So do your research online and for me, I read Lonely Planet before I visit each country for the above things I have mentioned. Happy travel.

In China, PEOPLE WATCHING is more apt description than visiting most popular tourist attractions. Another lesson about visiting China. Try to avoid getting food, drink or snack inside any attraction sites. Generally they are highly expensive. Bring one's own drinks and snacks especially. Eateries away from tourist sites even in busy CBD are always much cheaper for meals that are far better in quality and variety. However many of these sites, eg Leshan Buddha is a sort of must do site. Thanks for another very well done video about China.

What a great trip to Leshan Giant Buddha! I am so grateful watching your video and it saved me going through all the hard work and trouble your family encountered. Thank you very much for your hard working to going through all the details for being on the trip. Thank you! I do enjoy watching your girl walking, she never looking tired at all. She is such a wonderful little girl with great personality. Your boy looks more stabilized/matured than her little sister. What a blessing family! By the way, it surprised me your dinner was a great deal. I guessed it was double triple the price. what a good deal for this dinner. Looking forward for your trip to GuiLin where I visited twice over thirty years ago. It is a great place to visit. I would like to suggest drinking more water than soda especially some unknown brand soda in China. Wish you and your children enjoy your journey in China. Thank you very much for your effort to making those videos!

The Buddhas in the back were newly built in the 90s of the last century, and they can only be regarded as cultural relics after a few hundred years.If you want to see the stone carvings, I think the Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang are a better choice.

Those newer installations in the them park I can see that some of them are replicas found in ancient buddhist grottoes in other parts of China like Mogao caves in the western parts of China and and the Yungang grottoes in Datong. If you want to see the real ancient ones, go these places but I reckon you can give it a miss if you've already one before and if that province isn't part of your itinerary. I didn't know of this theme park when I was there at least a decade ago (so it should be new) but I find it should not be there if it isn't ancient, it does not feel like part of the Leshan area. They could install it outside the scenic area.

Never mix up check-in gates and platforms. Sometimes, a check-in gate may lead to all platforms... There are only 2 check-in gates at Leshan Railway Station but 9 platforms. We see clearly in green on the display when boarding "Check-in Gates 1,2" followed by "Platform 8".
@lorirty4 ай бұрын
key difference of the 3 gates is that north entrance is enter only, no exit. and there are 2 interesting spots on the north side. so if you do want to see the 2 spots and don`t want to waste your time to walk backwards, choose north gate. if you just want to focus on the buddha, south in east out will be a very efficient choice

But never mind try again on next hot pot meal in China and don’t forget the sauce . Further more the meats just boiled for a few seconds that will be ready to eat, don’t boiled too long of the time, unless the vegetables. Enjoy your journey and fun.
