NimoNumi that's why I'm waiting to see it at the Pantages in California. There are no bad seats in the place and so the cheapest ticket there will be about 100$ maybe even less. But I have to get it right when they go in sale or they will resale for about 1200$ like you said. No theatre actually charges that much (unless it's like the best seat in the house and it's some VIP package or something like that)it's just the people that resale them.

I don't like Hamilton. I think it's nothing special. There, I've said it. (Prince was a visionary, though). Mind you, I'm not American so I haven't got a clue about this Hamilton dude. I've just seen some of the songs and gone "meh".
@ForeverMasterless8 жыл бұрын
No matter how smart and significant something is, it's never going to speak to absolutely everyone's personal taste, especially for music. A lot of people hate Shakespeare. However, like Shakespeare, there are some things about Hamilton that are very clearly smart, unique, and important. You really don't need to like any of the music to understand, in an objective and detached way, why people are praising it.
@starlinguk8 жыл бұрын
ForeverMasterless The thing is, I'm not from America. Hamilton means nothing to me whatsoever, and neither do any of the other historic characters in the musical. So I can't tell if it's smart, or unique, or important.
@ForeverMasterless8 жыл бұрын
starlinguk I just think that's a very odd viewpoint to have. I didn't give a shit about american history before encountering it, and I still thought it was brilliant. I also don't need to have been born in a country to enjoy something relating to its history. Shakespeare's plays being based in 16th-17th century England isn't some insurmountable barrier that prevented me from enjoying them. It's not as if Hamilton expects you to have previous knowledge about american history. It just uses it as a vehicle to tell universal truths and play with form and style, placing unlike things next to each other to create interesting new ideas, like pretty much any work of fiction.
@starlinguk8 жыл бұрын
ForeverMasterless But Hamilton is a musical, and so far I've not heard a single piece of music that I like. So the only reason for me to go watch it would be if I felt some affinity with the history it portrays, which I don't feel at all. I like the way Shakespeare writes, and I like what he writes about because I have an affinity with it.
@ForeverMasterless8 жыл бұрын
starlinguk That's fine. I didn't say you had to like it, or go see it. All I said is that it's pretty easy to see the reasons it's being praised, the things it's doing that are revolutionary and important, even if you don't care for it personally or don't think the reasons are good ones. If you're curious about why it's esteemed, you can easily figure it out without having to actually like it or experience it, because so much of the praise is about what it does that no other musical has done before, the precedents that it sets. Groundbreaking works are easy to figure out from a distance in a way that really well done, but ultimately status quo works are not.
