Leslie Odom Jr. was robbed last night of a well-deserved Oscar for this song. The rendition shown on ABC before the awards show was absolutely spell-binding. No dancers, no musicians, just Leslie's mesmerizing voice, singing gloriously among the clouds as if speaking to the many angels out there, who are still among us or have passed this Earthly existence before us. Speak Now! Amazing and Awe-inspiring. Thank you Leslie.

This is the quintessential song of this year.Iam 72 years old married white man who grew up in Long Beach, I have forever been A person that has supported Black live we took care of a friend that became as our son as we made our son understand life there is only one blood! I will lay my life life down for the black race! And many time I was the driver of the car they mistakenly pulled us over and I took on discrimination my seeds were planted early by my mom and my wife has planted seeds in our Sons to defend the Equality of black lives Thank You from another musician! Keep on the words that send a message it works, like water against rocks the rock will wear down this is a fact! Like the seeds we sow we will stand tall before the Lord we pick up the cross to change the Soul.

Odom’s voice builds from soft and gentle to indescribably powerful, all the while speaking so clearly you can understand every word. The musical background from spare guitar to fuller orchestra helps the song build perfectly. The whole performance is amazing. You can listen over and over, enjoying everything about the song. Leslie Odom Jr. has released new single “Speak Now.” The actor-singer’s song appears in the title credits of Regina King’s One Night in Miami, which he also stars in, and on its official soundtrack. Odom portrays Sam Cooke in the film about a historic gathering between Cooke, Cassius Clay (soon to take the name Muhammad Ali), Malcolm X, and Jim Brown. Cowritten by Odom and Sam Ashworth, the affecting “Speak Now” addresses civil rights. His voice and lyrics serve as a salve as well as a call to action during contentious times. “I swear we’ll never find our way to where we’re going, all alone (on our own),” he sings over a reflective acoustic guitar melody. ”Don’t take your eyes off the road/Can you hear the bells ring out?/Speak now, speak now/Can you hear the angels singin’ loud?/Speak now, speak now.”

I love to hear Mr. Leslie Odom Jr. sing this beautiful song, I can hear this song even when I’m not playing it, because it’s so relevant for Africa American all over America. I loved one Night in Miami, a truly good movie, and I plan to watch it again, because this was during the years I was growing up, I was 10 yrs old when Malcolm X was assassinated and 13 when Martin Luther King’s life was taken from us all , so this movie brought it all home to us as Africa American again, especially when he started to cry and say, “ We’re fighting for our Life’s “, so profound because it’s 2021 and very little has changed. Thank you so much for this song, Mrs. L. Odom Jr., maybe this generation will listen. 🙏🏽🙏🏽♥️♥️
