Sometimes it isnt just words, its the body language, the look, their angry mood / presence

Absolutely. "If looks could kill"...is the brandishing of their weaponry, "life and death are in the power of the tongue"...pulls the trigger. Friendly fire leaves the deepest scars.

Psalm 119:133 Direct my steps by Your Word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me. This scripture jumped out at me just last year! God showed me, mean, ugly words are the sin of others. Let them have no dominion over me!

Oddly enough, some of my greatest healing has come from being in a healthy Godly relationship showed me just how broken I was. I did a lot of healing prior to the relationship, but being with a gentle, patient man allowed me to see places I didn’t know needed healing. God has been so gracious even in the caring loving marriage I am now in!

Journaling my prayers has helped me. Because when you PRAY God’s Word over yourself the lies of the enemy diminish!

The lords prayer sooths me, forgive me of my sins as I forgive those who sin against me. It doesn't feel good but it didn't feel good for God to go through what he did for me.

Philippians 4:8 God taught how to regain my focus and my thoughts so that my situation didn't consume them. That lead me to practicing an attitude of gratitude!! And it was definitely something I had to practice. That was a big shift with the pain I was dealing with. Although I did feel sadness, that was like a ladder out of a pit!! Thank GOD for his word!!

Psalm 123 is a good psalm for pleading for rescue and mercy from oppression. It speaks of those who are scornful and contemptuous.

I have found that when you stop using food as a crutch your "real self" begins to appear. For me that means being more emotional, validating that those verbal abuses do hurt (and telling my spouse so). Amazingly my husband just sat there when I confronted him. Maybe God is working on him.

I could so relate to all of this. Thank you for your ministry. Your videos are invaluable in my journey to leave my 20 year marriage to an abusive covert narcissist, and learn to find and love myself for the first time in my life. And to teach my children the truth so I can break the cycle. (Husband was raised by abusive/neglectful narcissistic parents, and so was I). I have had so many lies and so much scripture taken out of context thrown at me during this process, and so much guilt and shame put on me for seeking divorce. Thank you for sharing truth and love. It is helping me see things for how they truly are, and stop being gaslighted and manipulated. The truth is taking away fear that has been in my life for so long. I now have faith that I am going to be ok. That my kids are going to be ok. That God is truly working all things for our good.

My husband and I once were unable to walk on the pavement because there stood two people in front of us. Whereas I usually would say 'excuse me please' he gets quite heated up when the pavement is blocked by people just standing there taking up the whole pavement talking. While this is annoying, ways to deal with it are many. I always say 'excuse me'. On this particular occasion the woman blocking his path answered him back, saying 'u cud say excuse me'. He right there called her 'a dog'. And it shut down me, the woman, and another person she was with. When I raised it with him afterwards in private he said 'Oh you are on their side, not mine' which is a call to how wrong I am in his eyes and how angry he feels about that... One time his wheels span on gravel because he drove not gently like you were supposed to in a lovely sea side park. The women around were somewhat elderly and one looked scared. The same pattern followed.

Oh my goodness, when you just said, you are not in a relationship for their convenience. He even told his lawyer that their was no real relationship, because I was a piece of convenience. This was the term that really triggered me when I translated the court document from Spanish to English. Because I already knew that this is how he treated me in the relationship, he treated me like a piece of convenience.

This is confirmation to what I believe regarding my enemies. The trust level is totally destroyed. Self care is so important to me after dealing with all that I've gone through from 2006 through 2023, especially 2018 to present. Permanent boundaries have been put in place regarding these individuals.

I included this verse in a letter to my older brother years ago when I left my abusive husband. My brother wrote to me chastising me for abandoning my husband in a time of job transition for him. My husband was very gregarious and outwardly a nice guy. Yet, he was an active alcoholic and would have episodes of rage in the home. My adult daughters don’t recall the rage and the three of us retreating in their bedroom - my youngest one climbing under the bed. Or, their dad punching his fist through a door. 😢

Thank you for being humble and telling the story about the "warpaint" on your face during a session with a patient. I laughed out loud! I know I've done more embarrassing things than that, I don't want to tell them because mine weren't due to being in a hurry and forgetting something. Mine were purposeful bad judgement.

How about that Bible instruction to forgive 70 times 7? Or how was it. There is no condition about remorse there.. personally very sick of cheap forgiveness, what good is it to repeat hurt. Thanks for this healthy teaching!

I thought about that a lot, which led me to intense Bible study on forgiveness. Many times there are more than one account of scriptures, especially in the gospels. This passage is in 2 places in the bible: Matthew 18:21-35 and Luke 17:4. One of the passages mentions repentance, the other one does not. This tells me we need to read both scriptures to discern what God is telling us. We need to always forgive, but we cannot always reconcile if the person is not remorseful. There is also a scripture that instructs us how to treat our enemies. Forgiveness is an act or acts, not a feeling. Also, not every apology is sincere. Waiting and watching will reveal if an apology is sincere.

Forgive the other for speaking to you terribly. However, address the issues with that person. Walk away from the relationship if it keeps happening. GOD is with us and we show others how to treat us by being strong and of good courage.. separate if married even if it's just to another room. Leave if needed.

You must take care of yourself, God loves you. He needs God. Whatever needs to be done for both these things to happen: you taking care of yourself, and him coming to the Lord (possibly once he is left alone) - if u know wot I mean xxx

May I request that you shoot in under 60 minutes. Even an hour is a large block of time to dedicate to just watching a video. Especially, as someone with ADHD. 😉🤪 I often find myself going straight to the Transcript and scanning the content.
