Les Routes de l'impossible

Күн бұрын

Kenya is developing at breakneck speed, but behind the buildings of the capital, Nairobi, and the savannah, so popular with tourists, lies a very different reality. Climate change is splitting the country in two. In the north, entire regions are suffering from severe drought, while in the south, populations are threatened by rising sea levels. The road network is littered with bad tracks.

The real problem with these areas is that their are no permanent residents. These guys are nomads . You will build roads , hospitals and schools, you come next year, and no one is there . The government has tried building infrastructure in their migratory corridors but , they are not consistent because the weather, and traditions and thrill of adventure makes them change their routes every time.

We will talk of 15 tons van transporting 100 kgs fish later, am just curious on the following issues; Firstly about the transportation of the fish, the arrangement of the fish in the van, why scattering them on the floor of the van, cant he find big containers filled with ice and place them inside? I think that's safer way to preserve the fish than the scattering them. Secondly, I don't understand the mathematics being used here, when he was paying the second crew that helped him out of mud, he paid then 50 euros and narrator said thats the quarter of his profit, that means his total profit was 200 euros. Now considering the cost if hiring the van, the van fuel, how does business work there in Kenya? are transport very cheap? coz i understand that if the profit is 200 euro, the transport mustn't exceed quarter of the profit as well. Somehow someway, the script was not well prepared.

I am kenyan and a few things to NOTE about THIS Film 1. There's absolutely nowhere in kenya kids have to raft their way to school in crocodile infested waters and even those two shots were taken separately. 2. No kenyan kids will stop your car from leaving until you pay them for the push, our kids are happy to help with smiles n an open heart.😊 3. Most of the shots n stories were greatly scripted and exaggerated, no sane kenyan business man will use a truck to transport a handful of fish, film director couldn't even fake it the whole way to get a trackfull of fish, so he's cheap too😅 4. Shoddy work but kenyans see right through you.

I have lived in Kenya for 13 years as a European with a Kenyan family. Due to rampant corruption, what you see is what you get. Politicians stealing funds which were supposed to be used for development. Especially roads. And sadly, Kenyans are in large numbers in denial. Which you will see from many of the comments. They don’t think others should see how bad things are.
