Dude. By that definition, I have grey eyes. But no one, including myself has ever called them anything but blue. They are very blue. People compliment me on how blue they are. Why use a weird definition, that blatantly contradicts how people perceive a color (and not just some people, but basically everyone)?

Same. All those "grey" eyes are clearly some the bluest eyes ive ever seen. Ive got family with actual grey eyes, like gunmetal but I guess grey is blue and blue is grey and up is down and I bet green is brown now too

Another fascinating one is when someone with partial albinism has very dark blue-green eyes with strong limbal rings, sometimes including flecks of gold. They do not qualify as hazel, neither are they truly blue nor green, and can darken as they get older. Iris colors can get wild!

@RexytheRexy oh, god. Yes, on that sensitivity. I still occasionally get self-conscious when I wear my sunglasses because I've had to justify it in the past. Like, yes, there is heavy cloud cover, and you think it's too dark for sunglasses, but the sun is right there, right now, and it really is too bright for me.

Most grey eyes are in Poland. Its exclusive for North & East Europeans. Just adding there are studies that grey eyes are mostly in Poland & East Europe. But if youre European, theres ofc always the chance of getting grey eyes, because its in the European genes.

Now I know my official eye colour. Have always been told my eyes were either blue or green. Nobody could ever make up their mind. Interestingly, my husband has the same eye colour as me. You should see our kids eyes. They're absolutely stunning!

My dad had these & one time during Xmas when I was 5 yrs old. He dressed up as Santa & I knew it was him bc his eyes were grey. I didn't tell my younger siblings so it didn't ruin the fun. He is part Native American from Rosebud Lakota tribe & part Caucasian.

My eyes look different depending on hsppiness level. Sometimes they seem tourqoise, sometimes tgey are more bluish sometimes they look greyish. But recently i found a shop which takes and develops a huge photo of your iris...and they are swimming lagoon light blue with some sandy tones.

I also appreciate the mention of other types of heterochromia, though I feel inclined to mention radial heterochromia is a thing and is sometimes mistaken for the blue ring around gray eyes, though some doctors classify it as a subsect of radial heterochromia. I'm proud to have my gray eyes, because they skip a generation in my family and I have my grandmother's eyes. Our family really shouldn't have had blue or gray because my dad's eyes are dark brown and that is the dominant gene, but by sheer luck my sister has hazel eyes and I got gray. The powers that be really wanted someone from my family gen to have gray eyes because no one else in the extended family even has blue eyes, they are all brown except the ladies of the family, who either have blue or hazel.

I honestly don’t even know what my eye colour is anymore. They’re mostly blue with a rly dark limbal ring but a ring of light green in the centre. My dad and paternal grandma also have multicoloured irises but not the same colour combo as mine. Honestly no clue how that works or what colour they count as but living proof high school level biology is oversimplified ig? Edit: oh and ofc all our eyes change hue based on lighting and clothing. The blue in mine can go from properly dark blue to stark light blue in bright enough lighting tho they’re moderately dark most of the time

Yup, if your eyes are blue but have brown specks in the middle, they are actually grey. Mine seem greenish but have those specks and a dark outline so that makes them grey.
