I’m confused for Ft vertical distance. I thought the z2 value must be 2 meters plus 1.5 meters, therefore, the equation gives z2 =3.5 meters.

I think the reason z2 isn't 3.5 is because of the fact we broke it into 2 separate parts. That means we're only taking the dimensions of the triangle. If we did it with z2 = 3.5 meters, we'd get the bottom "length" of the BIG triangle, but we already accounted for the length of box. Mathematically, the entire bottom would be pg(2+1.5) Which is just combining the "length" of the bottoms of the box and the triangle.
