Hi Deborah. I am a healthy, vibrant 63 year old woman. I started skating just two years ago. Your videos have helped more than any paid lessons would have. I can now skate backwards and cross over thanks to your videos. Just yesterday, at the rink, a young lady came over to me and said, "Lady, you can skate!" lol. Thanks again :)

I took up roller skating when I was 8, and for the first two years I skated like a bulldog on wheels. And then a friend said, “Jené, you skate like a boy.” So I worked on becoming a more graceful skater after that, and it turned out to be the best “advice” I ever got as a skater. I was really able to expand on what I could do on skates. Balance is a beginner essential.

Dirty is without a doubt the most entertaining instructor I've ever seen. She's also takes a significant amount of time BUT is very thorough with why we do things a certain way and how to do them. Even though she doesn't sound super professional like how some people want it, she's an excellent instructor to learn from. I appreciate this greatly as an ice skater with no experience quad skating.

Hello Debra, My partner and I found your channel and are so excited to learn how to skate, we both are having custom skates made from Pigeon Skate’s with some Doc Martin’s. The helmet, knee, elbow, and wrist guards are here, and we are so excited. I have been practicing my balance, strengthening my legs/thighs with wall squats and practicing falling from your falling video. Getting up and down is actually a huge workout. Lol We scoped put a few parking lots and a tennis court already too. One day we’ll road trip from Oregon just to visit your Skate center. Screw Disney Land - you have the best energy and the kindest heart and we really want to visit and skate. :) We had a manger who had such awesome energy like you at work a few years ago - she was a bad mouth cheer leader and every one loved her. She had a soft center behind a gruff demeanor. She suddenly had passed away a few months ago - she was one of my Partner’s closest co-workers. I think she took a liking and really was touched and inspired by you because she is super motivated to get healthy and learn now - even having been held back mentally toward physical activity for years by Asthma. We really appreciate all you do to shine your light and ‘spread that $hit like glitter!’ 🤣😂 Truly, thank you so much! 🥳

The anxiety, embarrassment is the REAL lesson here. You CAN get beyond this if you keep your focus on the goal. You absolutely understanding that there will be a ... moment... where you will feel uncomfortable and that the only way out of the discomfort is THROUGH it. You must see the task to the end. If you stop at the uncomfortable, you will be forever stuck there. This will affect many other aspects of life. So be brave my skater friend. Know that the uncomfortable parts lead to greatness. You are right where you need to be. xoxoxo

Unsolicited advice, 9 months later, as someone that's finally trying to learn after decades of Fear Of Embarrassment: Get safety gear! It's a confidence boost for the clumsy. Let yourself slip, slide and fall. Once I tumble a bit I often feel a bit better afterward. Think about it: not a soul on wheels started without a tumble or two.

You are an angel from Heaven and an inspiration to all. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I started figure skating when I was 3 years old then went onto Hockey in early 70's which was a challenge all on its' own being a girl sharing the locker room. I then went on to roller skating, dance skating and I even taught young children until I was 16 (a month before my 17th Birthday.) I had a serious life threatening accident when I was 16 and 4 months pregnant on roller skates (I know - I was young and stupid) I fell on the bar that separates the carpet from the floor in the concession area going down the ramp to the washrooms. I fell backwards and my skate went right up my "fun zone". I was in a month long coma with 4 blood transfusions and a new lease on life. When I woke up, my specialist said "I hope you rethink the adoption because your unborn child just saved your life. It's too early to tell if you can have any more. I instantly bonded with my unborn child. I had a baby girl in that June. She has just turned 33 years old. I never roller skated until a few short weeks ago at my age of 50 now. I decided after watching roller skating at the outside rink with my boyfriend for a month, I wanted to "show off" for him. It's not like riding a bike - that's for sure. I was wobbly and fell flat on my butt. I then started watching your tutorials every day and doing them at home with just socks and sometimes shoes. I felt ready so I practiced everyday at the rink but on the ground not on the rink. I was on rentals but they held the skates for me everyday as I wanted to be comfortable. Yesterday, My Impala's came in and I was so excited. We went down to the Pier and I was nervous (too many people) Anyways, when the crowds left, I got on the rink and I did amazing. I finally lifted up my foot and down into the ground. It was the best feeling I have felt in a long time since I was told in May that I am now Cancer free. I am sorry for the long comment but I really want you to know that you have impacted my life so much in a way that is greater than life itself. I cannot wait to get out there and skate. Thank you so much for the great tutorials and help. I watch and rewatch your videos every single day. I feel happier, healthier and good about myself and that is in itself an improvement that was much needed. I am getting over my anxiety and socializing more. I even made some new friends that are positive influences. My boyfriend was apprehensive about me roller skating at first but now he has been supportive and encouraging. He won't skate and I won't push him. (He's 65). I tell everybody at the rink to go watch your videos. I even have pre-written pieces of paper with your name and youtube channel name to hand out. There have been a few who have seen your channel and a few others who have thanked me after watching your videos. Admiration from Ontario Canada Katrina

46 yr old here with a lot going on in the fun zone area. I’ve wanted to start skating again for so long but fear has been holding me back. I’m so scared of falling because I worry that I will come down hard due to my weight and really hurt myself. But I am so glad I have found your channel as it is galvanising me enough to actually get on on the brand new skates I bought for myself this week. So I’ll definitely be taking you with me on my first skate session this weekend. Thank you so much 😊

French girl here! Started skating today, first time ever, and thanks to your amazing tutorials, after unlocking my wheels and loosening the trucks (that video of yours saved me soooooo much frustration!), I was able to skate forward, stop with the toe stops, and do bubbles (and survive). I love you!!! You are an excellent teacher. Know that somewhere in the south of France, someone is repeating "Down with the butt, up with the gut" 😂

Hi Debbie, thank you for your detailed, step-by-step, thorough instructions. You've helped me learn how to skate and I'm so grateful to you! I would love it if you added a video on slaloming in your Lessons playlist. I know there are other videos out there, but I'd much rather learn it from you. Thank you!

I'm just bought my first skate and learning to skate now. It felt like a baby taking their first step. I fell thrice but I keep getting up. I hope everything works well. I love your tutorials.

Thank you so much. I was able to do my first steps today. It was a hard challenge with Ballance and trusting the weight shift but this was great improvement. I'll try again when I buy proper roller skating shoes. The ones I have now are sneaker wheelies and they dont offer much support.

I've been watching your videos after renting skates for a couple of weeks. Now I own a pair of skates and wow❕ What a difference. Thank you 🙇 so much for doing these videos. I am not exaggerating when I say this has changed my life. It has changed my life because I now know myself differently. I can confidently, albeit clumsily, skate.😄 You're wonderful Deborah.
