I am Amanda from Hong Kong. I make easy and practical cantonese learning videos for complete beginners to intermediate level.
My full time job is a flight attendant. I enjoy studying foreign languages. My job allows me to visit many places and meet many people. So that I have more chances to practice what I have learned.
Due to the covid, I haven't fly regularly for over a year. I find KZbin is extremely helpful for maintaining my language proficiency. One day, out of curiosity, I looked for cantonese learning channels. I was so surprised that there are so little and most of the good one are even from overseas. That's why I started "5 minute cantonese" on 2020.

Hi Amanda. Regarding 裡, I hear both Leoi & Neoi. Please can you explain? Thanks..good useful lesson.
@5minutecantonese

Haha... It's the N & L issue again. The official pronouncation of 裏/裡 is leoi5. If you hear n, that means at that moment I suddenly speak with the nasal sound. It's very common for us Cantonese. The same issue of 你 nei5. Even the official pronouncation is nei5, 80% of us pronounce that with L. We are very sensitive to tones but not this one. 😝 We could only tell the difference when we pay close attention. Since nobody learned Jyutping when we are kids. For us, it's more like habit. Like the Mandarin in northern China. people will automatically roll the tongue even the words are without "r". Thank you very much for reminding me this. Sorry about the confusion. I would pay more attention to that in the future.

Hi Amanda no problem .There actually is no official way n or l. Please read Stephen Mathews' (CUHK) excellent books on Cantonese where he explains how and why this happened. Although lei for example may be frowned upon there is no "official" spoken way only the spelling.
