Possibly the most important yet misunderstood aspect of developing as a musician. Like any word in any language, patterns in music exist in 4 dimensions.

I gotta make myself one of those bucket seats. Then they'll be clapping and throwing money at me in no time.

"What your friend isn't telling you is yeah he learned that Pearl jam song but there were 10 other songs he couldn't learn this week." Never felt so targeted in my life

God this guy is so cool, maybe he is not the best guitar player or singer, buy he is definitely one of the best teachers in the world

2 episodes in and even though I already know a lot of these basics - can tell this guy is hitting some huge key points in progressing. Am looking forward to learning more

I’m honestly in awe at your abilities to clearly communicate something so BIG. It’s a gift to watch you in action.

This guy cracks me up sometimes with how he says things such as “well there’s some people that speak English that don’t know how to read it, but it’s an awfully tough way to conduct your in society “.

Well, he is telling the truth.

This is definitely a different approach for learning the guitar. Comparing music to a language is helpful because letters and words are familiar concepts. Think, Read, Hear, and Speak keeps us on familiar turf.

These are great! A disease with online guitar teachers nowadays is that they deliberately don't explain certain things, because of course for that you have to pay extra out the ass for their all-new deluxe upgraded Patreon whatever bullshit... They know that actually *teaching* their students would deprive them of their grift. This is the exact opposite of that. And it's sorely needed, now more than ever.

Watched on 08/12/2024. Blew my mind, first time that I actually understood the theory. Amazing!

You’ve done a real nice job of organizing the information in these first 2 lessons I’ve checked out so far

These are the best videos I've ever seen in my entire life. You busted out a wicked solo near the end. It was sort of funny hearing you sing along to it but it proved your point perfectly and was quite impressive. Thank you for making these. I am learning so much already.

I paid $300 for the dvd set back in 2006. I learned everything from this course. I loaned it to someone and they stole it. I went to buy again now that I have kids and want them to learn the theory I know. I found out the videos are free and had to post Scotty’s channel on Reddit. I’m so elated seeing Scotty’s course get the attention it deserves!

I have been seeing classes, videos and books for many years about guitar and to be honest, I am really amazed by the way you have to teach all this different concepts that initially sound rare and distant, but you made them closer and common. Thank you so much for this jewels that you let us enjoy.

Excellent, I've been playing the guitar for about a year taking weekly private lessons for 6 months, this is just fabulous. Just tried singing along to a jam track... sounds suspiciously like my improvisation (needs work :D)

I’ve had some ear training and theory - and I am really enjoying this overview. Never thought of the logic of tuning in fourths. I can read classical guitar music intermediate level. Here for more ‘understanding.’ I really like the presentation style. I’m teaching myself some pop songs and Bossa Nova - and I wan to learn how to improvise. What do I really need to know? I’m here to find out and I’m buying the accompanying book well worth the $20 to say thank you to Mr. Scottie!
