Knowledge needs to be applied and made relatable and relevant on a personal level to be properly internalized.

The SDK3 was giving me trouble, popping up with errors every time I tried to import it. Apparently the SDK no longer supports Unity 2018.4.20f1, and has instead upgraded to Unity 2019.4.31f1. I downloaded it, imported the SDK, and now it works as it's supposed to

"if the gray ball doesnt appear..." It could also mean the Gizmos are disabled in the scene view. Top Right of the scene view, make sure the Gizmos button is on.

Thank you my friend! I needed to upload my avatar for a quick test and I am glad to say its working so far. You did a wonderful job explaining everything though I had to put in my textures differently because I did mine mostly without a tutorial and apparently did something drastically different but your tutorial was by far the most useful out of the ones I've seen! it tells me what I need and what to install! As for the shaders, I used one of the default ones because I know it should be visible to quest users.

For some reason Unity only recognises the eye bones if theyre named LeftEye and RightEye and not EyeL or EyeR so you need to rename them in Blender

if your materials didn't transfer from blender to Unity properly try changing your setting from auto to copy when exporting from blender

No matter what version of Unity I get, the Vrchat SDK tab never shows after importing its package in, the folders in assets show, but not the menu tab ever. I had tried with at least 7 different Unity versions/years including your tutorial reference

Hello! Thank you so much for your tutorial! They are so helpful! But i have a big problem... when I import the avatar on unity, all the materials are there and they are all fine, except the materials under the skirt... front and back are there, they are missing only inside and therefore it seems that the inside of the skirt is invisible... do you know how i can solve? i had this problem with dresses and skirts 😭 (sorry for my poor English)

Try changing the Cull to None on the material for the skirt, in Poiyomi you can find Cull under the Render Options

You can create new materials with your textures added to it and embed them manually, drag and drop, to your avatar instead of using external material (legacy), although this process is easier. To make it convinient, just add a copy of the textures in your unity project. Worked for me when my textures weren't properly loading in.

I know you got it fix but I also had this problem and for me the solution was just simply going through it again. I was exporting it through the normal blender export instead of the Cat addon export. So if your having the same problem check if its that.

When I hit Apply in the materials section, it does create a Materials folder, but all the individual materials in there are gray.

Check your export settings in Blender, when exporting through Cats make sure Path Mode is se to Copy and the icon next to it is blue

@@Piplip2010bat Your textures didn't export from Blender, the evidence of this is the Textures folder missing in Unity. What you need to check is when you hit Export in Cats in the window that pops up make sure Path Mode is set to Copy and the icon next to it is blue. After exporting again, re-import the FBX into Unity, you might need to delete the old one along with the Materials folder.

Use the Scale Tool or the Scale values under Transform in the Inspector when you select your model. The ball is probably somewhere around your legs or above your head
