As children, we learned to sew on our mothers' motorized Singer versions of this beautiful machine. Everything from electric floor models to the Featherweight 221. Winding and setting front-loading bobbins and threading machines was quite easy. I don't know why people go crazy over that today.

Dear Anitha, Needle number depends upon the fabric you are stitching. Use organ needles on your machine. Choose no. 8 needle for lightweight fabrics similar to georgette or organdy; a 10 or 12 needle for medium-weight fabric; a 14 and 16 for heavy fabrics like jeans and 18 for very heavy fabrics.
