It's so handy to have accents to indicate how a word should sound and to differentiate between similarly spelled words. In English you are just thrown in and have to figure it out for yourself. You have reading and Reading, polish and Polish, wind and wind, tears and tears, etc, etc...

I have only just started going through the pronunciation course you put together and just started learning French. This selection of videos is beyond perfect, they are the best and most well-articulated lessons - not too slow, not too fast, and easy to understand. Got very confused that my pronunciation of Père and other è words must have been wrong all along after reading the book, however upon watching the video I've realised that Scottish people like myself don't pronounce Fair the same way as english people haha! That's why its great that you have made the video content, thanks very much for that extra effort.

magnificent as usual dear Dylane. I still did not notice the subtle difference (at least for me as a non native French speaker) between E grave and E Aigu. may you clarify to me which one ( E grave and E Aigu) is considered low sound and which is high sound as you mentioned at around minute 6:18 in the lesson. You can't imagine how beneficial and easy your lessons are. Thank a lot.

I think the È sound like the E in "egg" or "bet" but I am not sure. This is such a great class.

Bonne soir Madame. As French pronounciation, most are similar to Hindi pronounciation. Only difference is in writing. As you explain how to pronounce, it helps to all who are learning French. A demain.

Bonjour! In the video, you say, "We have the two words, À and A. The first one means 'at'. The other one means 'has'." But the word that appears in the video is "To", not "At". Please clarify. Merci!

My bad! Thanks for noticing. Very easy to explain, since it's a pronunciation course, I tried to keep the translations easy and use only one but said another one 😉 À translates to : To - At - In - Of - By - For - With - Per - and more.

Dear Dylane why E grave in Rivere takes the “y” sound as the ”y” sound in fiere. It is more logical to take the sound of E grave in both mere and pere.

When you were commenting on the same sound but two different meaning , on the grave , LA I understand this one but the other LA there , with the grave how can I tell on what they stand for , I might be rushing things , but I didn't realize it ment two different meanings , , ? Hi, Im a little bit confused. Why with the same "à", there's still difference between "là, voilà" and "déjà". And also you said at the beginning of the video that with accent grave or not, the letters still pronounce the same, but seems like they are different in tone. Im not sure if French a tonal language or not? Hope to get answer for this. Thanks

There is no difference, it might be the stress that you hear but there is no différence :)

Just started your lessons and find them very informative, but at 6:21 when you pronounce un eleve, why does it sound like “uh neleve” like the n is part of the word eleve?

This is explained a little bit later in the course but yes you heard right, we call this "une liaison" :)

That's because you don't have these sounds in your language probably so your ear can't differentiate them :) Sometimes it takes some time but you will be able to hear them at one point :)

Ce qui me déroute le plus en français, ce sont les liaisons. Quand j'entends, cela ressemble à un mot, mais se révèle être 2 ou 3 ensemble. 😱

I feel thankful for my native language which is Vietnamese, we have more accents than French does so accent is not a problem whatsoever 😂
