Wouldn't the taw have to be soft, since there is a vowel before the taw. In Syriac, this is also the case.

In Syriac the opposite of ܐܝܬ/ܐܝܬܝ (there is) is ܠܝܬ/layt (there is not). Is that in BA not like that? Maybe the word ܠܝܬ is a mix of the words ܠܐ/La (No) and ܐܝܬ/ith (there is).
