I love how Dan never threw up his hands and gave up. He never gave up, and the Lord never gave up on him. It's interesting how he experienced many of his most profound experiences when he was helping others.

I really appreciate this man and his understanding that this life experience is eternal and all good things require work. Education, healthy physical habits, relationships, and vocations themselves. Working out the negative doubts, requires work and he doubled down with extra fasting, follow through with callings, church attendance, scripture study and prayer. When I felt that the Lord had me in his sights and experienced many many crushing trials I went the route of holding fast to past spiritual experiences. After a season of railing on the Lord, I remained faithful in church attendance, callings and visiting teaching. And realized God's timing was different than mine. With eternal perspective it really helped me accept the trials as possible opportunities. Holding onto past spiritual experiences was my lifeboat. This man was right to fast once a week in the military. Wise decision. Also he is obviously intellectual which has is pluses and drawbacks spiritually.

I appreciate all of these experiences and individual stories... one of the powerful themes is that personal experiences allow one to focus on moving forward. It does not mean that difficult questions all get answered. I try to remember this perspective when supporting those who are wrestling with historical/doctrinal facts - we can support and love them - but, frankly, some of the questions just don't have reasonable answers base on what we know today - and we have to trust that the Lord will eventually give them transformational experiences... For those who have not had those experiences, we need to trust and respect their journey... as many are acting out of integrity based on their personal experiences and the facts as they are known today

His faith crisis was made easier by his recognizing the Spirit working in his life such as the Sister Missionaries story. Most of his faith crisis seems to come for wanting to know more and then not having the foundation of perspective when he discovers new concepts. Eventually he gets the support. He is a good example of what antis use to put members in crisis. Throwing something in their face that there is a good chance they don't have the background to process. What they do, sowing dischord is an abomination.

Family members complete their mission on this earth. And go back to GOD. We know that they are completing missions on the other side of the veil. We need to rejoice in the completing of their missions
