Revered sir, Another tense-based grammatical problem -When they -(finish) their work, they returned home.(Use proper form of verb).

Here you would usually say "finished" but some people might use "had finished" after a time phrase to show that this event happened before the time of the story in the main clause 🙂

You could either say "were watching him" or "were watching out for him". It's the longer action of two verbs (fear/watch) so past continuous

Sun sets in the west. In the initial minutes you've read " sun sets in the east" please check and rectify that part.
