Preparedmind101 is now winter proofed thanks to the Lester River Bushcraft Boreal Shirt. This is a 100% wool Boreal Shirt that is made by Empire Wool and Canvas and sold exclusively by Lester River Bushcraft under license. I've seen the hardcore bush crafters sporting these for a couple years now, and now I know why...because it rules.

Those things are sweet for sure I made my own out of old army wool blanket I picket up at a second hand store for $30 bucks but I tell you the amount of work that goes into making one its is definitely worth the $250 he sells them for. Jason

Thank you for teaching me the benefits of wool! I'm a common man and bought a vintage Woolrich hunting outfit at a thrift store for $30.00 and cover it with gortex pants and jacket to hide the old school red makinau plaid. If I had the money I would buy the boreal shirt cause it's green but the old school 100% wool clothing works great too. Thank you for teaching me about layers for winter survival. :-)

I've got this garment. Yes very nice, wind blows right through it though. I'd suggest the Boreal Mountain Anoraks Waxed Canvas Wind Anorak as an outer layer in wet windy conditions. I was informed by them that you should order 2 sizes larger than the wool anorak under garment.

Nice! I like wearing wool when it gets really cold, definitely better than polyester or cotton. I bought an old surplus wool Swiss army jacket for about $50 from a surplus store in MI. Its really heavy, weights like 8 or 9 lbs! But I wore it when I when hunting and after sitting for about 4 hrs being still in 30 degree weather I started to get cold. But thats sitting still, now when I am doing something outside, no problem, I am warm. Only has two pockets and its a button up style, no zippers.

I'm a NY to FL transplant and I own one of these. I initially got one for when it I go on vacation up North but recently I used it when the temp dropped to 39 here in FL, let me tell you this coat is the best winter coat. I wish I owned it when I lived in NY, it would have saved me from freezing my ass off in many winters growing up.

I should add, to take your measurements and round up to the next size. Leaves room for layers underneath but it's not over baggy either.

I had wanted one of these for a long time, however had to wait till he was able to do a custom order for me as I am a bigger guy. I am glad I spent the money, I had though about making one myself, but unless I went with a cheaper wool, as a 100% wool blanket is not cheap, and did not want to ruin it. I read through the comments and see so may people complaining about price, and it takes time to make these. If you have the skills to make one, all the better to you, but not everyone has the skills. I can say that when I am around the campfire I am warm and not worried about a cinder catching the shirt on fire. I have had the ability to test the shirt in the -10 wind chill with just a thermal long sleeve top, and stayed pretty warm.

It's pronounced "bor e al" not "bur reeal". www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/boreal. The way you were saying it, it almost came out as buritto. Regardless it is a very good wool anorak.

I'm thinking about buying one of these. I'm also considering lanolizing it to put some lanolin back into the wool the way sheep naturally have it to help repel water and insects a little bit better. Little known FACT is that lanolin is also the reason sheep don't shrink when they get wet. Anyway I need to do my research a little bit more because I don't think I want to over do it with the lanolin oil.

Unfortunately for me, being 100% waterproof is a must have for my outdoor gear. I own thousands of dollars in my hunting clothes, literally thousands. And I have 3 parkas that are all over $500, but there 100% waterproof gore-tex. If you spend as much time as I do hunting animals and hiking, your going to experience rainy days, on all day sits in a treestand. My Sitka gear is expensive but waterproof also, I love wool because it's proven tough and warm, but it's not bombproof to me because if you're in a downpour, it's resistant to moisture not waterproof.. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and opinion on this product, I appreciate it sir.

I live in California and cold weather normaly means for me it's time to retire my shorts for a month or two and wear long sleeve t-shirts under a leather bomber jacket. However I just bought a cabin and it gets a little colder at the higher altitudes. I have a great 100 percent wool Trench Coat that keeps me toasty but it's not great to work in this looks like it would be a great item to keep at the cabin that I could just slip on when I am going to be outside for extended times.

Based on the material it’s made from (apparently surplus 100% wool USGI blankets) I would expect that you’d want to wear a light layer underneath at least. It won’t be smooth like merino wool, but it shouldn’t be unbearably itchy either.

I'm not knocking it but for the people who are more money savy I just got two 100% wool long coats from military surplus store and the extra length my wife is gonna cut off and make pockets where I want with the extra material. They where both new and i paid $100 total for 2.Just another option for less and with a little skill can alter to your needs. They may be older style but work excellent and look somewhat even close to the one you are wearing now.I bet it does work and I do agree spend money wisely and some things if you buy cheap (made) then you will pay the same after you wear it out and need multiple to last the same length of use as a properly made garment or anything for that matter. Also won't be as warm and will buy a couple at least if they are cheap and spend the same as a nice one.so buy wise and know what your buying and buy quality first and don't worry about having to not be comfortable and buying more trying to save a few bucks.

They do fit tight in the arm pit. I got a Medium and I'm fighting with myself to go with a large. I'm wide up top and a large would swim on me in other areas. I've seen some of the home made crappie people have made. Until you see the heavy duty stitching that goes into this shirt , people will think they can copy it. It's not pronounced "bow-real". It's pronounced "bore-ee-al". As in the boreal forest.

Looks like a good product , but for $250 there's lot better options , ones that don't make you look like time traveller. Lol

250... so you get to look like a peasant and be broke as one too? but hey i saw 1/2 in thick felt for sale at a grainger magazine at work in like 5x5 foot sheets. tell me you couldn't make a badass jacket from that. you'de weight 30 lbs more and look like mad mordigan from willow. slap some bear fur on that shit and fight a dragon with your bright sword. i don't think much cold gets through bear fur and 1/2 wool. : /

PREPAREDMIND101 more like robin hood. If you do some archery with this on and a traditional quiver.. you might as well be yelling "long live the king"
