February’s cover star has turned her hand to teaching for Vogue U, British Vogue’s new home school series, and she’s here to share some of the skills she’s mastered as one of the world’s hottest performing artists: from summoning stage presence; to tips on learning choreography (“your best bet is to get really famous, then people will give you a little bit more time to pick it up”); to signature moves like the fox, squid, bobsleigh, fox combination. You never knew what stage presence was. Because if you’ve did and you’ve ever seen her live, she definitely has stage presence. She has the crowd dancing and going crazy. Being less skilled of a dancer =/= lack of stage presence. Most singers don’t even dance but still have stage presence. Look at any rock band for example, they don’t dance but they definitely have stage presence.

To be fair off the back of that first album she never looked comfortable with dancing on stage, but then again that album wasn't really an album that required huge dance choreography when peforming it live. It was her voice, behind the mic with a band, primarily. She's clearly dramatically improved her confidence in her physical performances on stage, and you could see that from the release of Electricity onwards. She began to believe in herself and that shift towards more choreographed performances. As she should. She's properly talented. Everyone will still know her and she will still be releasing big records in 15-20 years. She's not a flash in the pan like so many acts are. Also she was till really young for that first album. Of course she'd lack confidence compared to 4-5 years down the line. Natural.
