It’s Marshall’s own version of the Steinitz Defense, taking bits and pieces of lots of variations to make one plan. The Frankensteinitz.

if you watch closely, then you will see that on 6:56 black does not only attack the knight but also a rook via diagonal. So technically, it was correct sentense
@timothychan97
@timothychan97 6 жыл бұрын
@@bogdanlinke67 sure, the rook was also attacked, but he highlighted the knight because it was the undefended piece under attack. Black definitely had no intention of capturing the rook.

To be honest, I'm really impressed with Marshall. Sure, he'd lost the game, but it looked that his position was hopeless. Yet, he managed to find quite a number of resources for counter-attack. One small mistake and black would have won. Unfortunately for him (and fortunately for us, since it would be a shame not to finish that briliant attack), Capablanca was very precise here :)

Hello Antonio, I watch all your videos and have done so for a long time now, I notice that often you miss speak when naming the pieces you are pointing to, no big deal, but it happens when you are going fast, perhaps you need to slow down a little and allow your eyes to catch up to your brain. In this video you call a knight a bishop at 4:24 and at another point you call another knight a rook at around 6:54. It happens many many times. Aside from those comments, which might seem critical to you, and your many excellent subscribers, I want to say that I have great admiration for your knowledge, enthusiasm, intelligence and work ethic, you bring a lot of enjoyment to my day and deeper understanding to my love of chess. Good Job! I wish you many more years of success!
