I listened to Kennedy in a multitude of channels doing interviews that were kilo metrically long but mind blowing informative and highly instructive, I haven’t heard till this day any of his conversations to carry any hatred or even attacks to his counterparts outside of policy points. Clean and respectful even when under direct attack from interviewers who clearly try to corner him. So, then I found out about the other thing that killed the Democrat party for me, the Democrats should uphold democracy right, I mean it’s not rocket science, it’s a descriptive direct thing “Democrat” party, but nothing has been done in that way by them for a while, don’t just hear it from me, go look it up… this truth has been revealed everywhere in the media, you tube, X, everywhere. why lie about P. I’m reading a fascinating book entitled Mediocre: The Dangerous Legacy of White Male America by Ijeoma Oluo. As an old (71)white guy with six full decades of perspective, I have to say that Ms. Oluo really nails how the cards have been stacked in my favor whether I knew it or not. As I read the book I had a flood of memories of the things I took for granted as having access to (jobs, education, social opportunities) that were and still are limited and limiting for some Americans. And I grew up the son of a low wage car mechanic, but I still had the significant advantage of whiteness. I watched family members’ racism and misogyny elevate to anger during the 1970s as women and minorities began demanding their rights. For many of them, it hasn’t changed since. It is this bitter animosity and hatred that is at the heart of Trumpism. That’s what MAGA is; the desperate grab for the power whites feel entitled to.

All remedies should be solely NEED-based, and completely color-blind and sex-blind. AA SHOULD have been mandatory at every college and university when it was first implemented, but whiteness and the protection of that whiteness in higher education wouldn’t allow that. Had we done that some 50 years ago, the goals of AA would have been met or would be far further down the line. That would make your needs-based idea more appropriate. What I hear in your suggestion is the reluctance of a white person to accept the idea that an eligible and deserving white student might lose a college slot on the basis of race. Think for a moment how many times a young deserving black student was deemed ineligible solely because of race and has felt that same feeling. There’s an equality to that disappointment, too. That white student has more alternatives for college attendance than that black student in the first place or the black student wouldn’t be looking for AA help. Changing Affirmative Action to needs based so that white people aren’t upset that blacks are actually being helped is not a good enough reason.

I'm not advocating for either side. Just making the point that there are still plenty people that their religion is a very black and white matter. Us against them. Jews and Arabs. The Manifest Destiny, that concept was used by the US government, the democrats no less, to justify the war against Mexico, and before that the expansion westward of the newly formed nation and everything that that expansion meant to the people already occupying those territories. GOP call themselves "conservatives" for a reason. They want to conserve tradition, constitutional originality, and are fiscally conservatives, however, tradition has rarely worked in the favor of minority and women voters (including LGBTQ). It's why many minorities vote for the Democratic party. A large part of the Democratic party is comprised of people who felt ostricized and judged by the right and many of them feel that conserving tradition mostly benefits whites (particularly white men). So it's no surprise that Trump does well with white male voters. If Amendments weren't done to the Constitution, many of us couldn't even vote today. Yet GOP promotes constitutional originality because they prefer how things once were versus how things should be. Over time, alot of the GOP base were categorized as racists & misogynistic because suppressed groups feel like so much effort is made by the GOP base to take us back in time but few of us benefited in the past. GOP voters needed a target to be angry at and Trump taps into their anger because he and his father were called racist and misogynist as well. Alot of the times when he's fighting, he's fighting for his own personal reasons and many of those GOP base voters feel just like him so he uses their shared grievances to bond with his base and they think he's fighting for them but he's actually mostly fighting for himself. Americans on both sides are actually more alike than different but Trump highlights our differences & uses it to his advantage. He uses anger, resentment, and fear to demonize the other side, which works well with white men who feel like minority groups are gaining power. Why is GOP so obsessed with "conserving" the past and why are most if not all members of KKK or other white supremacy groups? It's because conserving the past means more dominance and power for whites and it's why GOP hates progressives, who are about making things more equitable across racial and gender lines.

@@vipermad358 I didn't learn anything (that I remember) about it in school. People who believe in communism will tell you that Communist Russia was not "real" communism. And indeed, it wasn't, as it had an authoritarian and oppressive system, which did not lift the people up. The problem is that real communism (the ideal of it) never happens. The moment people try to implement it, those with the leading power seize control, because that's human nature. Communist idealists fail to realize the utter weakness of human nature, which cannot handle power without restraint. Fascism puts the "group's welfare above the individual", and that is pretty much the idea behind communism as well. Why is it that every attempt at modern communism ends up instituting a strong leader, who is practically worshipped by the people? You might say to me, "but communism is left-wing and fascism is right wing," but really, what difference does it make? They are both extremes that end up with the same result: oppression of the individual by some idealistic idea represented (in the end) by power concentrated in an authoritarian leader.
